I hope a lot of games leave room for this functionality rather than coming up with something to do for the gamepad just for the sake of it.
Apparently Batman supports off tv play aswell. It would be perfect playing the fight challenges and other button bashers with a semi interesting program on the TV. Couldn't bring myself to buy it twice though even if it gets a 4.6 higher score.

Wow. This thread is crazy! It's been quite funny to read while at work, but I hope it all calms down when the Wii U forum goes up!

I'm really not surprised by Ninja Gaiden 3. From the sounds of it, a quick fix up wasn't going to solve anything. It should have been left for dead and something else should have been developed in it's place. That, and as many here have already said, a 7.6 from IGN really doesn't mean much. It it were Eurogamer, we'd probably be looking at a 5.

As for ZombiU, i'm still looking forward to it. Good reviews or not, i'm interested in the direction they're taking the zombie genre. Left 4 Dead is great for co-op and action. Dead Rising is great for pissing about, though it does get old quite fast. I'm hoping having a genuine survival theme for ZombiU will it stand out against those two, even if the execution falls a little flat.

So, what do we have for the launch?

Zombie game, once the great white hope, now suggested to be average.
Ninja Gaiden 3, which was lacklustre nine months ago when it came out, but looks shinier.
NSMB, heavy sarcasm on the 'new', but these are always fun. Hardly a technical showcase though.

    ...anything else of note?

So much for this being my shiny fix. Once again such potential, once again a (wilfully) different control scheme puts off third party developers.

Tell you what though, XCOM would work brilliantly on the WiiU, could actually shout about being the best version (as clearly the gamepad would be an excellent upgrade to the main game), and would provide a massive boost to sales. But noooo, instead they bang on about uninterrupted gaming because your gf rocks up and wants to watch X Factor. WiiU: enabling disfunctional relationships since 2012.

Is this new XCOM selling much? I know it's a big deal with all the twisted old PC gamers on here, but I didn't think it'd do much in the mainstream. Am I wrong?

Mind you, if Nintendo could entice some PC gamers on board, that would help make amends for all the PC gamers who bought a Wii last time round.

Cubby didn't know how to turn off sigs!

AC3 on the other consoles is really pushing the envelope and has performance slowdowns when there are many characters on screen and during the naval scenes. I'd be VERY interested to see if it runs better on the Wii U. Should be theoretically possible due to more RAM and better GPU if they have optimised it properly for the hardware.

Well 2K consider XCOM a "commercial success" if that's any help, but whether that includes projected DLC sales, who knows? NPD said it sold 114,000 at retail in North America last month. That doesn't include digital sales of course.

    (edit for quote fix)

The Zombie game isn't suggested to be average, you'll find out in 4 days anyway.

I'm a disgusting, biased evangelist fanboy when it comes to the game. I've been waiting almost 20 years for it and it has been everything I could have hoped for. Sadly it isn't tearing the sales charts a new one, but you should honestly try it, as should everyone.

Definitely buggy, but it's made with affection for the original and is a huge, highly rewarding, sophisticated and deep game.

And the WiiU is perfect for it.

Sorry, not trolling but never heard of this game, this line of games or Shin'in. That said, the wikipedia quote from their (very brief) page does not fill me with confidence:

The company is best known for the exceptional high production values in their games. Their mastering of every platform they have worked on is constantly praised by the press.

Nor does their games stable. Garfield game? FUN! FUN! MINIGOLF! TOUCH!?

So, I guess I'm saying, why should I care about this game?

The 3ds sister version of the game is well rated

WIll not be mindblowing but looks like a pretty, fun downloadable shooter if that's your thing.

Developed by people who's pedigree is entirely on handhelds, and who's last game got 'generally favourable reviews based on 8 critics' is not going to sell £300 consoles.

    So what else is there?

No, it's just a nice looking Super Stardust HD type shooter, not a console seller.

Apart from the 3rd party stuff such as BLops, EPic MIckey ACIII, SOnic Racing, Mass Effect 3 etc. there's not that much really:
    Nintendoland,NSMBU,ZombieU,Trine2 Director's Cut.

Shocking as in 'worse than I expected' as opposed to 'Oh gosh, I'm surprised and bewildered by this travesty'.

"ZombiU was originally called Killer Freaks from Outer Space" lol..

Actually, seeing this multi-player component for ZombiU has sparked my interest for the first time since they announced it. A mode where one person is playing a survival FPS (domination, CTF or what have you), and the other is plotting his downfall playing an RTS. They could really expand upon this concept if they chose to, especially on the RTS/GamePad side.
