I've said it a billion times, but it's one of the greatest game of all time. Is my personal favourite. No clone has come remotely close to it, though Shadow Complex wasn't a bad game.

Adventures of Lolo out on the eshop this week. A fun little NES puzzle game. I had it on Wii so should get it for the upgrade price. Nice, quite happy.

This should probably be in the eShop thread (rather than in here), but Steamworld Dig hits the shop on the 28th. It's priced at 6.99 and supports off-tv play and can also move all HUD elements to the Gamepad whilst playing on the telly.

I'm not sure if there will be a discount for owners of the 3DS game, though the developers have said they were looking into such a thing a little over a month ago.

Are downloaded games tied to a user account or to the console?

For example, if I have 3 games on my console but I removed all aspects of my account would the games remain playable on another account that is registered to the console?

    Have I explained that right?

Yeah, unless you do a system to system transfer (which can now be done from the home) your games remain tied to the console you purchased them from.

It's tempting. I really enjoyed Awakening, but i'm almost more tempted to play through that one again, rather than play the older ones. I've still got The Sacred Stones sitting on my 3DS untouched.

The original allows no grinding, so it's difficult. You've got to get any/all experience for all your units during the missions.

Yeah the grinding threw the balance of SS out of kilter. I had to restart that game and refrain from doing so in order to enjoy it.

We ever getting N64 games they said something in June but still noting so far, really want to play OOT and Majora's Mask as I already bought them for Wii years ago, but would love to play them on the touch pad.

They seem to want to stagger the launch of new consoles for the VC. Perhaps they thought the NES and Master System suffered against sales of Mega Drive and SNES games? Who knows. I'm sure that once the GBA Virtual Console support settles into a slow rhythm, we'll see either the N64 or the DS launch.

Changing the topic slightly, i'm hoping the Smash Bros sales continue into next week. I'd happily snap up Metroid Fusion if it goes on sale. I've held off buying any GBA games thus far.

Awesome. I will definitely buy this. I adore Fire Emblem. I paid 50 for Radiant Dawn and I have considered paying 100+ for Path of Radiance. I haven't. Yet.

Not complaining but it looks like the Wii u has finally lost all of its support. When Activision has canned cod you know your in trouble.

Here's hip ng Nintendo continue to support this long into the future

I'm less bothered by the loss of western support as, historically, Nintendo's never really been strong in that department. It's the lack of Japanese support I find most disappointing, especially as it's not doing too bad over there.

So what we're losing are games I've never considered playing on it anyway. As far as I know I may only end up playing the games shown at E3 on the thing. But they all look pretty epic so I'm happy. When I'm done with those perhaps I'll finally be ready for a PS4 ;-)

It's still kind of sad for nintendo, and hard on them. They seemed to finally turned a corner with sales on the back of mario kart in japan and america ( i guess europe too). It got potentially a good holiday period coming up for it too.

I don't give a fuck about CoD but it's a bad sign for the console, Nintendo really need to set up some Western dev teams to support their console as Western 3rd parties aren't coming back.

I've never bought a CoD game, but I have bought the last to Assassin's creed games. I've just finished playing through splinter cell and enjoyed that as it was similar to the original games. I've also got batman and Deus Ex, but haven't got round to playing them much yet.

For me personally I'm not that bothered - I only have so much time to play games so I can always find something to play. But for Nintendo it's bad news.

Although, if another dev came along with a good shooter on Wii U it could do well due to a lack of competition. As long as it was made with the strengths of the Wii U in mind. If Splatoon does well then maybe that will show developers that there is a market for shooters on Wii U just not necessarily hyper realistic war simulators.

Agreed. It might be time for another reinvention of the fps. My slight concern is that Splatoon might be a bit too different that people may not quite get it.

The games Ubi are talking about...didn't we know this already? It's been a while since Nintendo have attracted these type of games. Not since the GC I'd guess.

The best thing about this is Ubi calling them "mature". lol

I still enjoy CoD, but I only need one. Don't get me wrong, losing third party support is certainly not good, but if you buy a Wii U and want to play CoD, you still can. You'll still get a game fairly easily in Black Ops 2 in the core playlists.

I'm happy they tried at all to be honest. We've had a couple of CoDs and a couple of Assassins Creeds, and they don't sell. It'd just be a bad business decision to keep trying, at least with a franchise where you can't subsidise the cost of development by selling plastic figures like Skylanders.

I think the sales of Wii U exclusive core games like Bayonetta and FF5 will really show whether its user base is interested in those types of games or not. I, for one, would never get something on Wii U that I could get on PS3/4.

No, the Wii U is doing really badly in Japan too, it's just that the PS4 is doing worse and somehow makes the Wii U appear to be doing well in the minds of a select few.

Nintendo consoles have had poor Japanese support since the N64, that's nothing new. No raft of exclusive Japanese third paty games are riding to the rescue on a white horse, if publishers were so inclined they'd be putting them on the PS4 instead since spending that sort of money necessitates selling to the International markets also.

Ironically, if the PS3 had been a success in Japan it might have helped the Wii U out since there would be more games that might get a Wii U release, such as the recent One Piece game that was ported over from the PS3.
  • Deleted user 21 August 2014 12:05:24
Yeah, the Japanese market is kinda fading...

I think we'll see a bigger push in Europe now. Accept from Nintendo mind. I don't think they know Europe exists.

As much as I like the Wii U (just like the Wii before it), I still very strongly associate it with the Nintendo type of experience and will look to another console for other experiences. I realise that's a much my own problem of perception as anything else.

Also, I like the gamepad, but for general use much prefer a standard pad. I haven't used the Wii U controller (whatever it's called, the pro?), but the Wii classic controller was not very good. It does the job and I'm sure to use it to death still once I get around to playing Xenoblade one of these years (once I'm done with Xenosaga 3 on the PS2), but I won't use it unless I have to (that is, for an exclusive game).

    That's about it, really.

Apparently the only games to sell over a million copies in Japan last year were on Nintendo platforms with all but 2 exceptions being Nintendo's own developments. You can see why they're trying to hold on to that territory. Especially considering Sony are more interested in taking on Microsoft in the Wetern market.
