Hold on. You know you can't use the Gamepad buttons to play Wii games. It just acts as a screen.

Would you say the update is a step in the right direction?

I think Nintendo is working towards an account system, with this and unifying the Eshop balance on Wii U and 3DS.

@Raiko101 Very true.  Am sitting here right now though as the wife watches tv and have the gamepad on its little stand and am playing skyward sword :)

Oh god. Which game from the MK8 promotion do I pick?

I was thinking Wind Waker or NSMB:U.

WW or Pikmin 3 is the correct answer

@kentmonkey it has a little sensor built into the gamepad tho so you can use your wiimote as normal for all wii games.

@Ceelion If on the chance you've never played WW then it's a no brainer. Get that. If you have then still consider it but Pikmin 3 by all accounts deserves your attention.

Tell you what, was having a LOT of fun with Skyward Sword last night. Played Eldin Volcano, got the 5 keys to open up the Earth Temple. I would looooove to see this game get an HD makeover like the awesome Wind Waker got.

    @Pinky_Floyd

I'd be all over that. It's a lovely looking game in an understated way, too.

Yea, SS is deepy flawed but I love the visuals in it, it's such a beautiful game.

How on earth is it "deeply flawed"? It's just not as good as some other Zelda's, but any flaws are minor.

Bowling bombs and Fi's constant bleating and hand-holding are a few examples I can think of.

The volcano bit I did last night had a lot of bomb bowling going on but I didn't have too much trouble. Don't really like the mechanic but I got past those bits ok.

Too many forced collect 10 of these missions. And that boss that repeats 3 times.

    Still loved the game though.

It can't be worse than the sailing in The Wind Waker. Blugh!

Worst over-world in any Zelda (though I've not played II).

Those are minor flaws imo. It has a few of those but they merely detract from what is overall a superb game.

I just which SS had the option of not using the Wiimote. I want to use a pad!
  • Deleted user 23 July 2014 12:19:25
That's the version i've just abandoned. It's still not fast enough. That and they could do with getting rid of some of the smaller islands and moving side quests to main islands.

@Raiko101 have you got the swift sail?

I don't usually recommend using guides (though i have been known on occasion to have a quick peek if i get too frustrated) but in this case, you should look up how to get it. It is a frustrating process made even more annoying if you do not know how to do it

The motion controls were the best thing about the game

SS for me is all about the sound. It's utterly beautiful to listen to. Even if the visuals don't hold up it's going to be sonically amazing forever.

    Unusable controller.

I would love to try it with a proper gamepad rather than inaccurate waggle rubbish that adds nothing.

SS is terrible. First Zelda I haven't bothered to finish in a long time. It makes no sense that they design the game so beautifully that you can figure out from the level design and a single introductory camera sweep what you have to do in a room, and then have to sit though 10 minutes of some little goblin telling you in precise detail what you already knew.

It's a horrible, tedious 60 hour exercise in following instructions. Utterly pointless.

'Unusable' and 'inaccurate'? What a load of tosh.

I'm not the biggest SS fan but it's the best example of combat and fun to use gadgets the series has ever seen, mostly due to the Motion Plus controls.

When people say the controls were poor I often wonder if they were playing the same game as I was.

In regards to ss I remember people saying they've finally made a game that proved motion control could work in an AAA game, but to bad it was at the end of the wii's lifespan.
Me? I gave up after 90 minutes of tutorials.
