Oh, that Skies of Arcadia track. I wish they'd do an HD re-release of that. Although I guess I could hook up the Wii and play my GC copy.

FFXIV: ARR - Khroma Midgard, Odin.

So have Nintendo added a feature that allows you to put your account on another console yet? Or is it stil stuck on the original console?

4.16m for NSMBU is insane given an install base of what, 5-6m? I know it was a pack in too but there were lots of other packs.

Over 2m for SMW3D and over 1m for Wind Waker seems healthy too.

Pity only Nintendo games sell :)

    6.2m I think.
    Yeah it's bonkers.

Good to see them with realistic guidance for once.

Am I the only one who doesn't own NSMBU? With 4.16 million sold, that has to be a good percentage of Wii U owners. ACtually thinking about it I could do the calculations as they've sold 6.17 million consoles, but I won't because I'm lazy and instead just say it's about 66%.

"Regarding “Wii U,” which still faces a challenging sales situation, Nintendo will focus on efforts that seek to
stimulate the platform. By providing software that takes advantage of the “Wii U GamePad,” utilizing its
built-in functionality as an NFC reader/writer, and adding “Nintendo DS” Virtual Console titles to the “Wii
U” software lineup, Nintendo will seek to enrich the value of the “Wii U GamePad,” the most important
differentiator of “Wii U,” and as a result expand the sales of the “Wii U” platform. In terms of compatible
software, by positioning “Mario Kart 8,” scheduled to be released globally in May, and “Super Smash Bros.
for Wii U,” scheduled to be released this winter, as two main drivers, both of which are titles that a wide range
of consumers can enjoy either alone or with other players, Nintendo will seek to supply high quality games on
a continuous basis. Moreover, Nintendo will also strive to proactively pursue its digital distribution business
    through the “Nintendo eShop.”"

Results are out. 25% drop in sales and an operating loss, as well as a huge cash burn even considering the share buyback. That's takeover-level bad.

LB, you really are a massive geek.

Only Nintendo could put a line like this into their investor report:

"With its mission to pleasantly surprise consumers and put smiles on the faces of everyone it touches, Nintendo
will continue to offer new and unique propositions and contribute to the development of the home
    entertainment industry."

Nintendo should NOT be touching people, even if it does make them smile :)

When a system only has a handful of good games people will pick them up. If you had to pick only 3 games to buy on a ps3 everyone would choose different. If you have to choose 3 on the wii u everyone will get the same three.

Nintendo's business plan is to "pleasantly surprise"?

Fucking hell. Do they have any idea anymore?

Buy our £200 product. It's really not as shit as you first thought!
    Great plan Nintendo...

McDonald's could probably afford to buy Nintendo. But that won't happen, as it's not like they've only just finished doing Mario Happy Meals as a clue to their intention ;)

Didn't we have another thread to discuss general Nintendo business policy to keep it out of here? I thought we did, but I can't find it now. I think I might've imagined it, otherwise I'm sure that's where Bear would've posted it. I also had a dream about a thread you could literally step inside, like the Matrix but more whining about games.

It should mean at least nintendo will keep making games for it - they do seem to sell to the limited base it has. Just going to be a case similar to the vita - slow sales, but good software sales. Indies sales are fairly good too (i.e Mutant mudds sold more on wii u than steam, ps3, vita combined. So yeah its a vita but in console form.

So that's even more true for the PS4 and Xbox One then.

They do appear to be betting the farm on the QoL business. After killing their home console business stone dead, they had better come up with the magic rainbows and unicorns again.

Would they? I have 9 games for my Wii U, and none of them are NSMBU because it's terrible.
