They're both fairly inconvenient, I suppose. My old 360 died, but it's not like it was the end of the world. Just over a week and I was popping heads in Halo again :) Well, trying to. I'm not good at it.

The potential difference is the Wii U lock-ups could be patched, but I have to emphasise the word potential - both of mine were in Assassins Creed 3, and under similar circumstances each time, so I suspect that one is a problem with the game.

No. They are both shit. I was just pointing out that they are two very different things. One is hardware based while the other is software. And the poor quality of my 360 is the reason I switched to the ps3. The poor software of the Wii u both in terms of operating system and games is why apart from Mario galaxy and xenoblade I haven't played it since launch month.

Crashes occurring during a game and crashes encountered whilst using the system front end are two entirely different things. I doubt you'll find many people who've crashed whilst navigating either the PS3 or 360 OS.

Buy the 'right' game and you'll have plenty of crashes, irrespective of system OS stability.

The 360 dashboard would crash/hang all the time when pressing the guide button during a game.

PS3 used to hang regularly when it first came out.

Shop is slow on PS3, signing in to 360 can take an age, pinned/quick access items on XBOX dash are a joke. Issues are not unique to Wii U.

    @Cappy

I actually had to turn off my ps3 yesterday. Seems to be taking an age to update trophies. i backed out of it and it just froze on me, once i had to turn it off, the other i had to wait a few minutest to sort it self out.

Think there's probably something wrong with my console. 3 freezes yesterday...whilst exiting the browser.

Don't know if I can take it back either, fucking dog chewed through the gamepad charger cable.

Yeah, l bet they won't check properly. They'll peak in the box and see a power brick and that'll do them. That it a shame though, I did wonder why you seemed to be getting it more than most, even when it's a noted issue, but it does sound broken. The browser is slow to exit for me, but it doesn't freeze.

What's the Resi game look like? Can you move while aiming?

I wont be picking up Resi Revelations as I already have the 3DS version, but I syrongly recommend it. Far better than Resi 5, in my opinion.

I am thinking about getting Sniper Elite though. Once my backlog has cleared up a bit.

If that's not evidence the console is completely fucked then I don't know what is.

Also why isn't Pikmin on that list? Looks like it's the Q2 schedule...

My advice to anyone thinking of buying a Wii U: Don't. Put your money back in your pocket and walk away.

Buy it if you like seeing blue circles and "please wait" messages.

    Awful, awful console.

So the game that sold me on the idea (Colonial Marines what with the scanner on the pad etc that sounded awesome when played in next gen graphics - obviously pre release) is now pretty much cancelled. Rayman is now multiconsole.

Apart from Zombi U that means there isn't a single game I am even considering buying, let alone excited for.

How annoying. (Multiplats don't even come into consideration as they are guarenteed to be more expensive than on other platforms and probably perform worse.)

I was expecting it to be bad, after all I had a Wii, but I never expected quite this much of a fuck up.
  • Deleted user 4 April 2013 18:26:37
I still think it looks half decent, but it is such an obvious fuck up on so many levels you have to be daft to jump in.

Unless Nintendo are planning to parachute Pikmin 3 in without previews and advertising to build interest, my guess is that it's an Autumn release, possibly even later.

It seems Nintendo got panicked into revealing a lot of titles that weren't anywhere near release for the purpose of mopping up a few more sales off the expectation some of those games had to be arriving soon.

@mowgli The gamepad is nice. The UI and the absolutely pathetic game library/release schedule says it all.

Don't waste your hard earned cash.

To think people gave the Vita a hard time. Fuck me, the Vita has a superb OS and games worth playing.

@RyanDS well, both NFS and DeusEx are supposed to be better than the other versions.

Deaus Ex is free on PS plus, NFS to be honest doesn't interest me.

I think most ports are at least on par with other platform versions, with the exception of Call of Duty. It's just a few of the early ports have clearly had little work done on them, or were more difficult to port. Unsurprising, given that Nintendo couldn't even finalise the dev kits.

It's good to see that we're now getting some ports that have had the care and attention put into them. I'm not overly fussed about NFS either, but i'll pick up Deus Ex when it comes out. Sniper Elite is sounding pretty good too.
