I am curious to know when (and which system) the original Dream Pinball 3D came out!

... but yeah, that line-up compared to the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 is fairly unspectacular.

LEGO City Undercover could be a surprise hit ... hope so.

Lego and monster hunter: plenty for me personally.

I'm still playing Mario and ZombiU :)

What's the deal with this lego game? Everyone seems to be very excited about it. From the title alone it sounds like something aimed at children. Is this not the case?

@CharlieStCloud Dream Pinball launched in the US in April 2008 on the Wii and May 2008 in Europe. A PC (2006) and DS version were also released.

Edit: The game is also available for iOS it launched in 2012.

The trailers have shown an adult sense of humour with references to films like Shawshank Redemption.

There will be other games out as well.
Just look at the 3DS Nintendo Direct today, several games completely new were announced for summer.

I hope, for Wii U owner's sakes, that that list is missing a lot and that Lego City Undercover is decent.

There's no doubt that there was either a lack of foresight from Nintendo or they're holding back big games for E3. Nonetheless, there should have released Pikmin 3 around now as well as well as having another couple of first party titles ready for around launch window.
The problem of course is support is there, but not in abundance and it is perhaps worrying that Rayman legends, Pikmin 3, and Lego City were supposed to be launch titles yet only one is coming out late in the launch window.
Part of me thinks Nintendo anticipated big sales around Christmas and that developers would then rush to support the system. This has clearly not happened, instead we're getting a trickling of ports when we should be expecting developers to port any and all multiplatfirm games to the system.
Examples of ports that should be coming, but aren't or have yet to are games like Tomb Raider, Crysis 3, Sniper Ghost Warrior 2, Hitman Absolution, DMC, MGS Rising, MGS HD, Dead island with riptide, Grid 2. These should be coming at the very least.

It's not all doom and gloom obviously, there are some promising titles just the horizon, Lego City looks to free itself from the shackles of the Lego movie tie ins and looks genuinely brilliant. Wonderfull 101 and Pikmin show great appeal but not much is known about them and they look to have slipped to June.

I do agree that there needs to be a slightly more robust release schedule, but I think a little perspective is needed, by the end of the launch window there will be a strong library of titles to choose from, the highlights being -

    Nintendoland
    ZombiU
    NSMB U
    Lego City
    Scribblenauts
    NFS MW

As well as all the ports. 4 months into the consoles life. 4 months people.

Sorry - what's so special about the Wii U version of Most Wanted? Special enough to warrant it being called a highlight of the the console's line-up given the title has been available on other platforms for months now.

Genuinely wondering - not looked into it.

These numbers aren't confirmed yet... but if they are, the Wii U is now a zombie in the US as well as the UK and Japan.

    NPD January 2013

    Xbox 360: 281K
    Wii U: 55K

To put that in perspective... 150k would have been bad for January. 55k is nigh on non-existent. The PS3's worst ever month in the US was 82k and that was a number of months after launch.

There's a chance it's wrong though, time will tell.

Means nothing - in a few months there'll probably be a Mario Kart out along with Pikmin 3, Wind Waker remake and maybe a surprise first seen at E3.

They'll help the console shift big numbers. For all the hype, I'm not sure Bayonetta 2 will.

The only reason I added it is because it's shaping up to be the definitive version of a solid 9/10 game. The write up by DF is worth a look.
Besides, it's really not that old, I dont buy into this nonsense that a game looses its relevance after a just a few months, a great game stays great until something better comes and replaces it or a new iteration is released.

    @Psychotext

MS confirmed that 360 number ahead of the official NPD publication so I think it's safe to assume the rest of your info is going to be correct too.

No console has ever sold as low in its opening 6 months, even the $599 white elephant of the PS3. It might not mean everything, but it certainly doesn't mean nothing.

Cubby didn't know how to turn off sigs!

Which is exactly when sales are strong for new consoles. It usually takes 5 or 6 months for sales to start dropping off (stock issues aside).

To put it in context, this is worse than the Gamecube did on its first January... and that thing was completely DoA in the US.

Sales were strong in the initial 1.5 months, sold through 2.5 million +
I think, eventhough January sales are quite low, much of that can be attributed to a lack of momentum due absolutely no games being released in January.
Still on track to surpass 3.6 million, which was both the GC and PS3 total by march of their first years respectively. (Albeit GC launching a little earlier in September and the PS3 not coming EU until March) Nintendo forecasted 5 million, but that's looking optimistic right now.

Confirmed now. 55k. Also, apparently that's with 5 weeks of tracking vs the usual 4, so 11k a week on average. That's actually worse than Japan.

Give it a year at least. :p

Someone will be. I wonder what the issue is? Price? Games?

I'd like to get one but there's just nothing worth buying it for at the moment.

There's no way of knowing how bad those sales figures are until the new consoles are released. The 3DS, during it's slowest months, was considered a massive failure. And then the more powerful Vita came out and did even worse.

The 3DS built momentum and is at least retaining titles in the top 40. Even if they're all first party.

Edit - There's also a Sniper Elite V2, or something, coming out in march. I'm sure there's a couple more titles missing from that list. Still a massively quiet 1/2 year.

Those numbers are really bad, when they get some more software out they need a seriously huge marketing campaign.

Lets be honest, you know you're in trouble when you have scribblenauts as a highlight. Its never been more than an iphone game even before the iphone existed.
