Eve is pretty much all cross-faction corporations. Your character has starting skills related to flying ships but you can train in any faction ships you want no matter what your starting faction is.

Not sure how Dust is going to implement this. I would be surprised if only same faction corps can integrate in Dust and EVE.

This is starting to sound better and better

If they can deliver on all of the promise, with a long term healthy update plan. I can see this being my MP game for quite a long time

    @Grump

Yeah LFR is still there, maybe a vaguely affiliated DUST group wouldn't be a bad thing if the game turns out well!

Would love to rejoin LFR - it must have been over 2 years now since I've been online with you guys. I might re-sub when DUST arrives.

First, to those complaining that its a ps3 exclusive, maybe open your eyes an complain to Microsoft for being such control freaks over their precious Xbox live.

Now, ill admit I wish it was a pc+ps3 release, but CCP likely sees a way to monetize it as an exclusive for the time being. Perhaps we will see a pc release after the console kiddies give up on it after a month, like they do with all fps games that aren't call of duty.

Intrigued by this although completely unfamiliar with the EVE universe. Sounds like it might be fun. When's it dropping for us regular proles?

Way to make yourself sound elitist with your last sentence there. You sure told them!

Can't see anyone complaining about it being a PS3 exclusive either, and if they are I'm sure they know why it is.

other than that is it any good?

Well this feels like a proper beta, just got the low res graphics in, so guess this will be a long beta testing

Just got major random lag through everything, from the rest room to being in a battle

So can't comment on how the game plays

Character skill set up is like eve online

Looks like the skill tree, suit set up is like eve online

You buy skill books using ISK the currency for eve, buy books like assault rifle handling etc.

Then you goto skills page , it tells you how many skill points you have and how many available skill points you have to put into a skill. Looks like you available points increase slowly over time. So you choose you skill to upgrade, and it uses your free points to upgrade it. In eve this used to take from minutes upto days to learn a skill. At the moment it happens as soon as you click on yes. Maybe the timed version will be in final release

Got all the skill trees for vehicles etc, going be a very in depth long term side to this game, which is what is getting me interests in this. Plus with large 24v24 conquest with commanders on each side

Have seen the shop where you can spend real life money on objects,

Could buy a gun using real money, but get a more powerful gun using the in game currency instead

You also earn skill points during matches, they have boosters to make you earn more skill points in matches for sale using real money, still means you have to earn the money to buy the skill books, unless in a corp where friends may give you the skill books

So a seven day booster which doubles the skill points earned from battles cost 700 dust points

    400 dust point 1.59
    1100 dust points 3.99
    2500 dust points 7.99
    5000 dust points 13.99

So hopefully skill boosters should be able to be brought using the in game currency as well. There was plenty missing from the market place page regarding skill boosters, so will have to wait and see what other items there is and what their plans are

Ok your drop suit, has CPU and energy gauge each item you install in your suit uses up that CPU and energy gauge. So it's a bit if a balancing act. So you have to invest in skill books that upgrade your CPU and energy and also books that decreasing your kits CPU and energy requirements, then adding in more armour, investing in armour skill books. Then if you want to start investing in skill books for vehicles and setting up your skill tree to your play style

Match I'm in , 32 players like BF rush, one base had 3 objectives to defend, lost those then next base to defend was about 400m away

Going to have potential to be fun, with all the vehicles and customisation in kits

Ok it's like rush mixed in with escort mode the match I was in

Attackers have a vehicle they have get to the enemy base. So the attacker s have to hack targets along the way which are missile launchers etc. so the vehicle is movIng forward, attackers rush in take out those objectives by hacking them, defenders can rehack those targets if the attackers have hacked them. It's basically attackers get their vehicle to the final destination, defenders have to destory that vehicle by keeping control of their objectives which can damage the attacking vehicle

    I think :)

At the moment it's eve players plus people who were at the eve fan fest. Think it will open up later as a full open beta to test out the servers. Get a small number in, then make it bigger over to time to find out all the bugs/ glitches

Basically if you liked section 8 MP you will like this

Right found out the input problems/ lag i was having :) never been comfortable with ps pad for FPS ever since ps2 was first released. So I use a converter which lets me use my Xbox controller. Never had an issue until today. Switched over to ps pad and no dramas, some lag spikes but was way more playable. Now trying to use a ps pad after all these years :)

Big thing to remember is when you buy kit off the market and whilst using it you die in a match you lose that kit. Think they are keeping some basic things with unlimited supply, things like starting suit, starting assault rifle. So when you buy new kit buy in bulk. Think in time there will be blue prints/ manufacturing side to the game. So clans/ corporations will have a manufacturing side to their game, plus maybe also getting funded by corporations from the Eve online pc community

Skill tree is quite daunting at first, just concenterate on the basics, then expand into vehicle skills, turret skills, ECM, sensor warfare,

Its a MP FPS/MMO. Basically you have the pc players in their spaceships, fighting over solar systems, players are in corporations/clans. When they want to fight over a planet then PS3 players will fight on that planet in a variety of game modes. Matches varying from 5v5 Tdm upto 24v24 large conquest matches. There will be vehicles tanks, buggies, dropships etc

It's going to be a persistent world, actions (matches won or lost) in dust will affect the pc game in their fights over planets

One thing they showed off was, ps3 player in his match needed fire support, passed that message through his menu system which got sent to a pc player, in the pc game a pc player had his spaceship in orbit round that planet, he got the message in real time and starting firing cannons at the planet, few seconds later you see the explosions in the game that the ps3 player is in. So it's trying to link two different games together all in the same universe

So the ps3 players are Mercs hired by pc players, to do the ground battles for them.

Will be a long term skill Tree, can learn skills to suit your play style.

Oh yeah it's also free, you can buy stuff in game using real money, the stuff I have seen you can buy is basically just a different skin of kit that you can buy using the in game currency you earn called ISK

Will also be free updates, as game gets bigger. Eve online has been going for about 9 years, constantly updated.

In closed beta now, still feels rough round the edges as a beta should do. The tests will get bigger over the months. The makers plan to start off small, get everything working then expand the game

Also it's not like BF where the vehicles spawn at the same location every time, you use your in game money you earn to call in vehicles as air drops

Played a bit more and couple of moments it really clicked. Can feel the influence of the ex DICE staff on this game, team running through the map, tank giving covering fire, bloke repairing the tank. Chaos everywhere

If anyone does get into beta, then expect a very rough game, still no release date. BUT you can see the good ideas in the game

Mode I keep playing is skirmish, cross between Battlefield 2142 Titan mode and rush. Attackers have to get their mothership(MCV)o the enemy docking station. So as attackers you have to take out the first base which consist of 2 cannons which can hit your MCV. You either hack them, takes a few seconds , then defend it for couple of minutes as virus uploads. Then that turns the cannon offline. Defend team can reboot it in same process as hacking. Or you can use a tank to destroy it. Defenders have to keep their objectives working to destroy the enemy MCV. So for attackers quicker you get through the first base, more time you have for the 2nd base. Attackers taking too long to take first base, your MCV will have much lower health for the 2nd base which has 3 enemy defences your team must take control of

The MCV has shield and armour, you get told that state of the MCV as the battle progresses. Also attackers have ticket/ respawn pool count like in Rush

There are enemy heavy weapon turrets you can hack, these automatically target enemies or you can use one yourself. There are resupply points, resupply ammo and change class during the battle without the need to dying and respawning, these can be hacked by either side. So only your team can use them when they have been hacked There are static spawn points which can be hacked by either side. So battles can flow all over the place. Can buy dropships, reminds me of troop carriers from star wars prequel films, you fly it, carries 5 troops also mobile spawn point(have to invest in skills to pilot vehicles) there is a spawn point marker for troops, invest in skills to use it, each marker you throw allows 10 respawns on it

Later on when commander mode is brought in, then that sides leader will be able to call in turrets etc and place them on the map. Believe commander is for the large conquest and skirmish matches, don't think it be there for the TDM games which are called ambush

There will be squads and squad leaders, these aren't in the beta yet

Am already studying the skill tree, trying to plan where to put my skill points. Apart from weapon damage, basic weapon handling for assault rifle, looking at shield recharge rate, making shield stronger, more armour points, getting better module to increase my armour repair rate, then invest in a skill which makes that repair work quicker. Very in depth long term skill tree to invest in

Even the respawning map is kinda of cool, see round the whole map, actually see vehicles driving round and not just a symbol, if there are explosions happening you see that in real time on the respawn map as well, thought that was a good touch. So it's like looking down from the MCV, guess the commander view will be pretty much the same

All this for a game that will be free, can't wait till it's finally released and running smoothly. With all the long term battles that will be going clan/corporation support, actions you take in this game affecting the Eve Online PC universe as well, think this game should be supported as its really trying hard to being something new to the genre. MP FPS are becoming stale, need more innovations like this
