Playing Zer0 as melee with Deception (down to level 31 for the achievement) in playthrough 1 I found to be rather enjoyable.

Lie with passion and be forever damned...

I've never found a Legendary mod from anywhere other than a raid boss, and it looks like you have found two!

@jambii267 first was from a raid boss. Latest one was from a looter midget in a chest outside the Bunker bit (TVHM)

I got a legendary siren mod from one of the Doctors Orders loot midgets.

Loot is slightly better in Ultimate mode. Getting something that isn't total junk is still a fairly rare occurrence though.

If you are abusing the Doctor's order quest the loot drops in UHVM are amazing.

If not, it's still better. I got a Hellfire from a Random pirate in the first DLC and so far I have found two pearls and two Legendaries from random chests.

In the Wildlife preserve area, there is a quest called Doctor's orders where you have to pick up four Echo's. I believe it is given to you by Tannis in sanctuary.

One of the echo's is in a cardboard box next to three other cardboard boxes and red Hyperion chest, for some reason whilst the doctor's order quest is open if you open those boxes it is almost guaranteed that a legendary loot midget will spawn in them, just make sure you open the cardboard box without picking up the echo inside and you can farm the loot midgets easily and quickly.

Also make sure to kill everything in that area first, they will not spawn in if there is too many bad guys in the area.

EDIT: Also if anyone is looking for Jimmy Jenkins that is the easiest way to do it.

I don't know, I did 40 runs and got one pearl, one legendary (siren mod), and a whole load of decent-but-not-exciting relics. After about 15 runs I had already got all of the relics that I wanted so it was just a really boring grind. One decent item every 20 runs isn't worth it for me, it's a bit of a waste of time.

I did get three back to back Pearls, and then two legendaries in the attempt after that, but random is random.

Did you kill all the bad guys in the area first, less midgets appear if you haven't cleared the area first, more midgets better odds of good loot.

Get up to wildlife exploitation preserve, take the quest from Tannis called Doctors Orders, which requires you to pick up 4 recordings in the preservation. Progress through the level but stop when you get to the room with the badass caged skags (just before you collect the bloodwing feather). There's a side room with a red hyperion chest and a four cardboard boxes on the floor, the recording is in the second one. When you have this quest active and open those boxes, most of the time a loot midget will pop out of at least three of them. If you collect the second recording then it won't work anymore, don't don't do that. Once you've killed them you can run back to the natural selection annex and save and quit/restart (this prevents you having to run back through the entire level every time you want to do it).

Why do you need to go back to the arena? Just travel in the arena and back out again when you first get to the Preserve.

I just have terrible luck. I really think there should be more guarantee of good loot. IMO if you kill a badass enemy on UVHM they should drop at least a blue item every single time, guaranteed. A mini-boss such as Wilhelm or Madame Von Bartlesby should drop a purple or above every time.

This is what I'd expect from the highest difficulty tier in the game. If you play loot-em-ups where the loot system is done well, such as Torchlight, or, well.. Borderlands 1, you can easily see how much more rewarding a system it is and that they could be more liberal with loot without breaking the game or devaluing the rarest items. Oddly enough, pearlescents seem easier to get in this game than the first.

It doesn't come up on my list, I've always had to run there. It was a pre-order bonus wasn't it? Might have something to do with it. I've always had weird stuff with my fast travel list. With my siren, Sanctuary appears at the top of the list, with my commando it appears at the bottom, with my mechromancer it appears about 2/3rds of the way down. And no, the sort button makes no difference here.

I liked the system in Borderlands 1, although you would probably kill yourself if you were looking for some specific.

I prefer that though, never knowing what you're going to get. That's why I loved Phantasy Star Online so much.

Even if the game just kept track and balanced out the loot over the course of the game!

I got some "cursed" smg which slows my movement and speaks/makes annoying sounds the whole time when you fire it! I would sell it but it's brilliant against hyperion, does massive corrosive damage, takes down bad-asses in one clip or less.

Haha, I'm playing as zero... Also not sure how to get 2 of them? I don't think I'm very good at the whole looting thing!

Is it better to wait til I'm a really high level to do these quests or is all the loot level locked?

Yes - that's the downside of becoming over-levelled, all of the loot remains at the level you should be for the quest.

Ah ok, so I should just plow through them? I'm level 27 and the current story mission is at level 24 (i think), so not too over-powered yet.

Basically on your first playthrough you want to do the sidequests as soon as you get them. So the guns you get will be of more use.

OK, and then wait to do them until as late as possible in true vault hunter mode?

Sorry for all these (maybe stupid) questions... I didn't play the first game and got this on the cheap so am late to the party!

If you're on PC and you don't wanna fuck about farming gear again you can use a tool to sync gear to your level.

But otherwise, yes, on TVH wait until later on to start hitting the sidequests so the rewards are levelled higher.
