Hmm, might respec my character for my next co-op session... Although my mate might wonder why I've gone from hanging back and sniping everything in the head to charging in and disappearing every 10 seconds heh

To be honest, this is my level 50 Zer0 and I didn't have huge issues getting through TVHM so far (you'll easily figure out which skills are boosted by Slayer of Terra mod, I still need a Legendary mod).

My current lvl 50 Zer0 build revolves around fire rate, reload speed, and the Tw0 Fang skill. All this is conjunction with the Stalker mod (increases pistol damage and fire rate) and the top-spec Sheriff's Badge I was lucky enough to find makes the Unending TMP I'm using almost godlike.
It sounds like nothing I've ever heard in an FPS before what with the sheer speed it kicks out bullets. Almost as effective as a non-Bee buffed Conference Call.
But I know an Infinity pistol would be even crazier. Which is why I despise both Doc Mercy and Gearbox for the stupid droprates...

Is it in most people's opinion, better (as in more fun) to carry on with an old character and do TVH mode or start from scratch with a new character?
Currently I've got a level 36 Commando, who has just started TVH and a level 8 Gunzerker obviously right at the beginning of the game.
Single play-through only
Also on a side note in roughly 50 hours (single) playtime I've not come across one single orange item. Is this usual?

Yep. I've only ever seen one, and that was farming one guy over and over again who takes 2 seconds to kill (The Bee shield from Hunter Hellquist).

They tried to make legendaries a bit more special by making them far rarer, the trouble I have with that is why then make it so they are all identical? Surely the point of legendaries is for them to be unique and mine are the same as everyone else's in the world.

They're not worth farming but they're worth having, cause they're different to normal weapons. I really like the variety..
When the kind of replies to questions like: "I've fought Warrior 75 times and still got nothing" are sincere answers like: "Only 75 times? You need to beat him at least 200 times.", then they've gone too far.
Well I don't think I will lose any sleep over not having an orange item then. Any advice on my other question?
It's up to you. I recommend going through to level 50, but you can always go back to it if you want to try another character.

Pyro Pete was my last hope for an Infinity as apparently he is relatively easy to solo. I can categorically confirm he is not!

Once again, I must be unusual. In that my Axton in Pt1 got 2 legendary snipers, a maggie and a flakka. My Gaige got a Hellfire and Flames of the Firehawk in Pt1 and a Hornet so far in Pt2. My Zer0 got the Bonus Package and Flames of the Firehawk (lvl23). Nothing with my Salvador, but I'm not even at Sanctuary yet on that character.

No, that was pretty much my experience too. Three legendaries in my first playthrough with no grinding required. And I got the hornet first go on TVHM.
And aside from one or two exceptions (the orange from midgemong and the one from the assassin team) the oranges that I've grinded for have been gotten in no more than half an hour to an hour of playtime.

Idk I got 3 orange weapons last week in 3 consecutive days just from enemy drops..they were quite low level due to the chars I was playing but still...

I've also had around 3-4 of them drop in midish levels, so they were all surpassed eventually and consigned to the Claptrap bin.
Oh yeah, I forgot. My Gaige also got Whiskey Tango Foxtrot from a vendor in Sanctuary.

I had a WTF shield from a vendor in Sanctuary, too. Pity it's a useless item.
I had a whisky tango foxtrot shield on my first playthrough. Had to ditch it as it seemed to be killing me more than the enemies were!
