Registered 2 years agoI am in no way representative of this forum as I don't really post as much as others so if I missed this explanation then I apologise.
Can you inform me why if you're sure enough that someone is racist to report them to the FA, then why would you not then also take them to the police. (Genuine question, if I sound sarcastic or anything that's not the intention) -

Registered 5 years agoA court case would take more time and money, the Terry case dragged on for far too long (nearly a year) everyone involved probably wants this dealt with as soon as possible. Also the courts can only charge if its beyond reasonable doubt wheras the FA charges on balance of probabilities. -

Registered 11 years agoWhy can't fans simply accept when their players are total dicks? I don't want to Godwin, but I will but it really does explain a lot of blind loyalty throughout history. -

Point number 1 - Money? I don't buy that a footballer would be prevented from going to court because it was going to cost him too much money. I also don't buy that you can be so outraged (and rightly so) at a referee racially abusing you but not wanting to see him prosecuted because it would "drag on"
Point number 2 - But surely Mikel has some witnesses and is 100% convinced that he was abused? Otherwise this should never have been made public at all. -

Registered 11 years agoI'm more concerned with the rabid defense that fans chuck out when it is so blatantly clear that a player is a total wanker. Scary. -

Registered 7 years agoThe Independent interview with Bruce Buck would be quite amusing in an Alan Partridge way if it wasn't concerning the ruining of someone's career and reputation.
The highlight being 'we didn't report him to get back at him for having a shit game... but he had a shit game.'D****** ******r

It's true. Then they leave and the blindfold comes off and realise Joey Barton wasn't being unfairly persecuted, but was in fact a recurrent dick.

Registered 10 years agoIt really is straight out of Liverpool's book of PR. Very serious accusation to make without following it up. And I don't believe that any player who thinks they've been racially abused would not go to the police. For any reason.
Besides, dave's explanation was the one I have heard. -

Registered 10 years agoThe Society of Black Lawyers have accused Chelsea and the FA of a cover-up over this Clattenburg business.
They are going to prove to be a right bunch of pain in the arse media whores it seems. This current racism issue seems a great way for this Herbert cunt to get his face in the paper ever day.
Incidentally, are white people allowed to join the SBL? -

Registered 4 years agoYeah calling your organization The Society of Black Lawyers isn't really doing much for promoting equality and being inclusive.
They seem like they are about 2 paragraphs away from demanding every Spurs fan be arrested on match day. -

Registered 10 years agoHopefully they'll lose any credibility they have very quickly through spouting far too much nonsense. They're certainly on the right path for that to happen. Would be nice if this Herbert guy turned out to be a peado or something though, just to speed up the process. -

"If there is anything we can do to put pressure on the victims concerned to go forward to the police with this matter, then we'll do that."
Nice. -

Registered 10 years agoInteresting comment given the Mutu situation:
He said: "We have a duty of care to John Terry in loco parentis. Not that, if he did something wrong, we weren't going to say he didn't do anything wrong. But we have to support him as a person. That's different from saying that, no matter what Terry does, we approve. -

Registered 6 years agoThe society of black lawers is a travesty. How can you bang on about equality just to set up a firm that specifys helping only one race? They should change their name to something less race specific, or no one should take them seriously. If the same lawer firm was set up for another race the media would go mad. I am all for equality and zero racism but I dont think they will be helping the cause -

It's a reasonable point. I don't think it's quite the same thing, but I can't quite articulate why, so perhaps it is.
