I could see him playing for us again. Will be hard to unload with his wage demands unless he has a brilliant season.

Anyone want to guess who's the only player to have a better assist / minute ratio than Nani in PL history?

Hilarious how we can't get rid of Anderson, Fiorentina wouldn't take him after his loan, Santos and Atletico Minero turned him down and he turned down a move to Flamengo. Another waste of space in the squad.

I guess it's difficult to get rid of guys permanently when they're being paid an absolute fucking packet. No wonder guys like Anderson are happy to hang around doing fuck all.

I still harbour the hope that Nani will come back a rejuvinatued character, because he's such a wonderfully talented footballer.

He just looked completely dejected on Saturday and it wasn't nice to see. Either way, a good spell at the club he made his name at can give his career the kick start it needs. May see him get a chance in a United shirt again or ensure we we get a decent price for him.

Either way, this is a good move for him and us.

    Hated, adored, never ignored.

Nani going out to make room for Di maria still makes absolutely 0 sense. it's pur 'holy shit we need to sign a big name' rather than looking at qhat the squad actually needs.

Really? Nani has played a massive role for us over the last 2 years hasn't he?

Is that why it makes 0 sense? Or is it because we haven't signed di maria?

It makes 0 sense because you're going to spend (if rumours are to be believed) 100 million on a player that can't play in defence.

    And you need defenders.

The guys who stop you conceding goals.

Like the 2 you conceded at the weekend.

    Di Maria won't fix that.

    He's an attacker.

    Not a defender.

hang on I'll get you some crayons and we can draw it out.

Quite apart from the question of why Di Maria would join Utd at this point.

So this deal doesn't make sense because of another deal that hasn't happened yet...righhhht. I'm clearly missing something.

Is there something wrong in simply saying that we need defenders and Di Maria is the wrong kind of player? Or is there a new rule where all deals must be linked?

Spend 100 on di Maria and play him as a centre-back. It's what they do at Utd.

    100 million does sound excessive.

Could be good for United but only if coupled with a decent defender or 3 and a holding midfielder that can lead the team and perhaps score a vital goal. (Like a Keane or a Scholes. The player Fellani thought he could be but failed miserably at).

and yet Sami Khedira is apparently going for peanuts. A player who would actually massively improve us at the moment if we could keep him fit. Then again, we seem to cripple players on a whim nowadays so maybe that isn't such a bright idea.

He would have if we'd had strikers for his whole time at Everton.

The season before last he created more chances than any other player in Europe. And last year I think him and Coleman were near the, if not on, top.

Shows how shit our finishing is, really.

Is 100 million not some silly transfer and wages addition?

They still have Kagawa and Mata. Team is going to be all over the shop. Feels like other teams have snapped up the good players with little bother and Man U are left looking clueless.

I think players are probably reluctant to join United at the moment as it could go either way.

No good signing a five year deal when you don't yet know where the club is going.

If things are rosy in January then you'll probably find a few of these targets signing up.

Kroos, Fabregas and Vidal all available this Summer and it doesn't look like they made any huge effort to get any. Not that Kroos or Fabregas would've went with the other options available.

At least with Di Maria it seems Real are mad to get shot of him and no-one seems interested now that PSG pulled out. Mad that no-one else is though, one of the best attacking players in Europe. And I really don't think signing him would mean no signing in CM. They'll either get someone in or not, won't matter about other deals.

I think if Di Maria is willing to go to United (which I'm skeptical about) then it's not that no one else wants him but rather United are willing to offer big, big money to get and no one else is willing to match it.

If Di Maria rejects United and still wants to leave/gets forced out then I think it'll get very interesting with other clubs coming in.

Then again I don't think it's too unlikely he'll stay and fight for his place again. Almost got forced out last season and managed to be one of their key players, probably thinks he can do it again.

Rojo sounds like the right signing for Utd. Be interesting to see how that pans out. A single piece that fits can change a squad around.

Crazy temperament according to his stats though, bit of a live wire?

Sounds like Fellaini's fucked his ankle, might not be going anywhere this window as a result.

This 100m fee being touted about Di Maria includes his fee, agent fee and wages over 5 years.

I'd love it if he came, he's world class. But I'd rather we pursued him after we'd gone all in for Vidal and a another defender.

To think Rio did such a good job as a pundit in the World Cup...

"Manchester United will win because they have a good manager. Wayne Rooney is a good choice as captain. This is his 10th year and he will be top scorer in the League this season.

"Obviously they need their best players fit. Last season Robin Van Persie did not play much but he could also be a top scorer.

"I do not see Chelsea winning [the title]."

The ban will not start until the next transfer window.

It means their summer acquisitions will be unaffected and the Catalan club could, if they wanted, sign more players before the transfer window ends on 31 August.
Expect Barca to be the most active team IN THE WORLD for the remainder of this window.
