Real lack of creativity in the middle without Coutinho which is worrying, good win for Southhampton we didn't put up much of a fight.

Di canio to go after this game?

Liverpool and United at Home then Swansea away.
    Seriously?

They're, what, 4 games into the season? With loads of new players.

I can't believe this thing is even being considered.

It's just nice to see us playing a team who wanted to play. It's been so frustrating trying to break down teams like Sunderland and West Ham who park the bus and play for a point from the first minute.

Excellent football by Southampton. I'll readily admit that I only really knew Boruc prior to this match, but a really impressive performance - and beating Liverpool at Anfield only makes it even better! ;)

You don't know the likes of Lambert, Wanyama, Osvaldo, Lallana and Ramirez?

Everton's on-loan striker Romelu Lukaku, who scored the winner after coming off the bench to make his debut, but was knocked out in the process: "I remember nothing about it. I did not even know I had scored, that was the first thing I asked the doc. I said "who scored?" He said "you".

Southampton may have only come up recently but they're hardly nobodies. They've been playing good attractive football for some time now.

Mourinho is simply s very odd man.
I think he innately hates creativity because he can't predict and control it.

Yeah, he was honest and tried to stay up so ref didn't give it, shocking decision.
That's what made it even worse IMO, sends the message that trying to stay on your feet is not advantageous.
Yeah, very true, next time Sturridge sees a tackle coming in he will be ready to go down, and who can blame him with refereeing like that.
This is why we need video review to help get as many decisions right as possible.

You see this time after time, player tries to stay on his feet after getting caught and the ref gives nothing. You get the worst of both worlds, incentavise players to go down at the merest touch and discourage players from honestly trying to stay on their feet.

No idea what the stats are but it seems about one in three games has a game changing refereeing mistake and we just shrug our shoulders instead of doing something to get more decisions right. It's a ridiculous situation when we have the means to make better decisions and refuse to use it.

I mostly watch the matches that are shown on Danish tv, and can't say that Southampton have been shown a lot.

You're never going to have video review for anything other than goalline incidents. It would slow the game down to a crawl.

    The louder, the merrier!

... Southampton played their cotton socks off today and truly deserved their win at Anfield.

It hurts a tiny little bit, but at least our feet are back to Earth.

Rodgers to blame for a poor selection, me thinks.

Arsenal to go top of the league after their next match!

The penalty decision is a non issue really. Yeah it was a pen, but we didn't deserve anything from the game anyway. No point grumbling over a refeering error when the manager and the players made so many other errors today.

There are so many ways to do this without slowing the game down. Video ref only signals crucial decisions missed, give each team one or two tactical video referrals, allow the ref to ask for help if he's unsure of a decision and so on.

Instead of wringing our hands and saying it's going to slow the game down so we'll put up with crappy decisions. How about FIFA actually find out if we can improve decisions without slowing the game down unnecessarily by implementing trials of different approaches and seeing what works?

Only Josť would find no space for Mata yet play with the "creative" midfield pairing of Mikel and Ramirez...in front of a back 2 of Cahill and Terry.
