Seems to have been made and tweeted by the official LFC USA account.

    Grief Tourism FC

It's bit cringe, but whatever I guess. People do some funny things on 9/11, especially Americans. My FB is full of weirdness today.

That's got to be from a dipshit fan. I know Liverpool's PR is atrocious, but even they can't stoop to that level.

It may be dumb, but it's not really offensive.

Just a bit weird to shoehorn Liverpool into something like that.

It's Liverpool thinking they're more than a football club again.

It just plays in to the victim mentality. As nick says, grief tourism. They had a round of applause and shit for what would have been Shankley's birthday. His actual birthday I could understand, but please.

It's not a huge biggie, but just made me cringe.

Fucking phone. Anyway, the FA have released a statement in response to Stuart Pearce. Get back in your box, basically.

It was his centenary to be fair. Pretty sure it doesn't happen every year.

Pretty cringe really. Does add to the "more than a club" mantra they believe in.

    But not offensive at all.

That it would have been his 100th still doesn't seem right to me. Not that I was offended or whatever, just a bit baffled. To each their own and all that I guess.
  • Deleted user 11 September 2013 19:33:14
How does celebrating the birth of a football manager (who did a lot for Liverpool FC) mean a club is trying to be 'more than a club'?

Like it or not, for some fans football clubs ARE more than just football clubs. Sure, that poster is too much, but I don't get the other gripes.

I dunno, it could be interpreted they're attempting to grow their brand in America on the back of an awful tragedy, which is pretty offensive.

Wouldn't put it past their PR.

I can hear that voiced in a Clive Owen monotone already.

They're probably too busy to look - it can take a while to count a 120,000,000

Meh, at least we got the benefit of them playing for us, and then the money from selling them. Let's not forget Wenger passed on the chance to buy both of them.
