It's a very interesting stat, although like all stats it's possible that something else has skewed it. For example, they may have another player who plays a lot of over-hit passes that are impossible to control or something.

Yeah but over a season such an anomaly of one player would be found out. He recieves passes from so many people, and for him to be that high up (exluding a poor player in a struggling Ligue 1 team) does point to a habit/flaw.

And Alt. Madris have a decent squad too, all geared towards giving him the ball.

It really is an intruiging stat. In fact another La Liga striker it could apply to (at least in the past) is the infamous Julio "The Beast" Baptista, who had a terrible touch.

And now he's back to being a decent striker for Maliga.

Either way, it's made me think twice about him. For a while I wondered why so many clubs (Arsenal, Spurs, and even lesser clubs like Liverpool) overlooked him when he was clearly available since River Plate. Just goes to show that during scouting, there are so many other elements that us common peasants overlook.

Regarding the discussion of Benteke's worth that we had yesterday, Lambert has come out and said he's worth over 25 million. Although I can't help but think this is normal hand waving manager speak.

You are a factory of sadness.

  • Deleted user 11 April 2013 18:20:18
That mean's he's worth somewhere between 15m-20m basically.

I was at that Cluj game, everyone around me started laughing and chanting "where the fucking hell are they?" when the attendance was announced.

Wow, bad article. Makes it seem like we're fudging the numbers, when it's actually an FA rule that the figures announced must be the number of tickets sold, not the number through the gate. Every club does it the same. The higher the capacity, the more you're likely to have missing. Even Barcelona have a lower capacity for all but the biggest games, there were 20,000 empty seats in the Camp Nou for the Deportivo game last month.

In other ticketing related news, we're charging Norwich supporters 25 each tomorrow.

We had to pay 50 each for the away game there earlier this season.

Ticket pricing should indeed always be tit for tat.

in Arsenal related news, a German article (seen it but can't read German) notes that Dortmund players make jokes amongst themselves as to who's being linked to arsenal, as they simply don't see us as a big club anymore and that they are in a club that has a better chance at silverware.

All true, though rather still depressing to read.

ITT: ecureuil rushing to defence of Man Utd (does an alarm go off every time someone posts something negative?) and Arsenal fans feeling overly sorry for themselves.

Good to see things are back to normal ;)

To be fair there can't be long until that Dortmund team gets picked apart.

Still a richer club than them, and to be honest that's what counts in football. Allows you to pursue the best resources.

"Pursue" and "allows to" are the operative words there.

I guess we felt we couldn't charge home fans 25 and away fans 50... Although a lot of clubs do, I think it's commendable that we haven't.

Add a bit of someone saying they want Newcastle to go down and then you having to ask them why they want newcastle to go down plus some moaning of Pardews tactics and "Pardew out"?

    Obligatory ;-)

They've been picked on the past 4 years for their best players (Sahin, that japanese fella that sits on the bench for United) and yet seem to be getting better.

Great Manager + Great Academy is what they have. And I think new they seem to be joining the CL elites, they should be able to hold on to their players.

Unless of course it really is all about money.

You forgot the posting something from a Sunderland message board.

    WINK.

(I found it interesting we never heard anything about that busload of Newcastle fans trashing that amateur league game)

    Interesting question...

Laudrop has received a lot of praise for winning a cup for Swansea, playing great football and keeping them comfortably in the PL.

If, hypothetically speaking, Martinez was able to win the FA Cup and keep Wigan in the PL again, what will be the thoughts and ranking of him?

If City or Chelsea won the FA cup, would there be an extra Europa League spot in the league?

That crap loss to them in the quarters is looking worse and worse, given the draw and teams left.
