Today I learned that my temper is best kept under control.

2 youths throwing snowballs at passing cars. I wind down my window to ask if they're having "fun". Cue a snowball to the face through the open window... :)

After about a milisecond of composure I decide to abandon my car and have it out with said youths, the offender running to the hills as I did so, leaving his little mate to face the brunt of my anger.

Probably just as well that the "tosser" scarpered, my mind wasn't in a good place for that split second.

Snow eh, I used to love thee.

You're lucky one of their mates didn't jump out from the bushes and into your still running car.

Heh, I appreciate the idiocy at my own behavior, it was quite a thing as it's very out of keeping with my general persona :D

I need Star Trek-esque plasma windows on my car methinks :)

Today I learned that it's not called Les Miserables by accident.

A strange game. The only winning move is not to play.

Was 2 days ago actually but fuck it, not making a "2 days ago I learned" thread.

Just in the past week, on three occasions, I heard an expression I'd never heard of before and which I thought was odd.

A speaker saying that they were going to segway into a different topic or onto another topic. Then I clicked on a youtube video where subtitles were on and noticed it's segue actually.

I thought it was an odd metaphor.

Can't we change the thread title to the correct spelling of learnt?

That is a correct spelling of learnt. As far as I understood both ed an t are right.

Many thanks to anthonypapa, I now know the meaning of the term "jakeball":

Jakeball is a derrogotary term used in the west of scotland
    meaning Degenerate Alcoholic.
It is often shortened to "Jake" or "jakey"
When referring to someone in a particulary severe drunken state they can be said to be "Jaked". This does not necessarily mean that they are an alcoholic.
A scruffy man drinking cheap cider at 8am is most likely Jakeball
Some Jakeball was sick on the bus earlier.
I must have been Jaked last night, I cant find my shoes.
    Beat it, ya mad Jake.

@crashVoodoo Subqueries are OK, but can be very inefficient. You can almost always use an INNER JOIN instead.

Subqueries are most useful when you want to run the "sub" bit first, just as a test to make sure that the results will be as expected.

Don't go near UNIONs if you can help it, and NEVER EVER EVER use CURSORs!

    Good luck :)

A generous squeeze of neat washing up liquid onto the lino floor before fitting a washing machine will help it slide easily into place....

....and back out once you realise you've not plugged something in.

...and again when it's not sitting right.

Still, even if it did I'd still do it. I'm not very strong I needed the help.
