@TheCrane It's not possible. You need the key from the Capra to get in the Depths, you can't get in via the blightown entrance. You don't technically have to 'fight' the capra, you can stand outside the fog door and chuck dung pies over the wall at him.

@andyc1980 Congrats! I strugged quite a bit with the Golem on my first pay through, he kept twatting my off the ledge... I didn't know about Tarkus the first time round either, he's the don.

Alright - so total DS virgin here.

Is it worth getting DS before DS2, do we think, or shall I just jump right in with the second one?

@Commander Keen; From the sounds of it, I think DS2 will be the better in-road for newcomers; Dark Souls is pretty brutal very quickly, whereas Dark Souls 2 appears to have an extensive introductory tutorial sequence.

Plus the games share very little story in common. Try DS2, migrate to DS from there.

I'm hoping it's not TOO easy in DS2 though; let's face it, some of us have been trying to make Dark Souls harder for ourselves...

    And you're reading this why?!

Hmmm - sounds like a good shout then! Cheers :)

@Commander Keen I'd play the first one, just summon loads

You'll have it completed in 2 or 3 days if you do that

@TheGreenYamo yeah I died a few times due to falling of as I was keeping my distance and hoping tarkus could almost finish him then run in to deliver the coup de grace. Decided to just go toe to toe with him alongside tarkus on my fifth attempt and it was all over very quickly. Anor londo though, just WOW! Blows away seeing Solitude for the first time on skyrim.

@andyc1980; It's quite something, isn't it? It's the sense of scale; the knowledge that a civilisation has all but died, and that is what remains - the scar that can never quite heal.

You'll get another chance at that realisation later too...

@Commander Keen - Just play all of them. Demon's is my personal favourite out of the souls games, however we're all looking forward to the new game, so it could be worth starting with us lot and seeing how you get on.

@Kami yeah I think it was more the scale of it that blew me away. Just wasn't prepared for such a magnificent spectacle.

Ok a little help please. Came to what seems to be a dead end in Anor londo. Seen the firekeeper and gone where she said. Killed the gargoyle and then the path ends invisible walkways is what I suspect . Or divine intervention on the fall

@andyc1980 Go back towards the elevator from Gargoyle Bridge. Right up to the room with the staircase in it, but do not go inside.

Have a mooch around the sides...

@EMarkM yeah I noti ed something orange up to the right and decidd I must be able to get up there. Cleared the place out with the painting now. I suspect that is where the doll is used. Not yet for me I think. Also got the gargoyle tail cut this time. That's all of them so far I think.

I was watching a twitch stream last night of some dude cheesing this game, he was just skipping every enemy and downing every boss in a few seconds.
Seems crazy, I still haven't completed it and struggle getting anywhere!

Damn that sorcerer! Twenty gold pieces and Iím wankered on Rohypnol.

@andyc1980 run up the first stanchion to the first column, move round to the right then run up the second stanchion, the arrows will miss you

When you get to the top, turn right and take on the archer there, the other one won't be able to hit you. You may need to roll forwards to dodge an arrow if you are not quick enough. If you get hit you will get knocked off

When close to the right archer he will use his sword, parry and riposte if good at it or use a good stability shield. Once he's down ignore the other archer and go forward

@andyc1980 Ah, well done. Took most of us a good few goes, that bit.

Some would have it that it's the worst part of the game.

Others smile sweetly and say, "you haven't met the next boss yet..."

@EMarkM I died a little bit further on tho. Haven't perfected parrying yet. Then was killed by the archer on my way back to the bloodstain. Maybe later then.

No. Died to the silver knight in the room on the right of the corridor. 40k souls and 6 soft humanity gone. Sure I can farm some more humanity tho.

    @andyc1980 Ouch, achingly close.

Don't go anywhere after the right hand archer. Look around.

You only have to face the archers once per playthrough.

@andyc1980 Yep, as Quaddy says, the next bonfire means you never have to take that route again.

    Look harder! ;)

Any one playing this on Xbox at the moment? Or are you chaps PS3? Just wondered if anyone has been having problems... Every time I start playing it it kicks me off Xbox live. I've then got to quit the game, re-log onto live and start again. After that it's normally fine. Been happening every time I play and it's a bit of a pain. Just wondered if it was a problem with my Xbox or their servers.
