Registered 8 years agoIt is but then the 800 did come out at about £400 so it makes sense if you look at it from that angle.
I plan on getting it off contract so I'll have to bite the bullet hoping someone else comes up with a cheaper option. I'll have an Omnia 7 16GB and a Lumia 800 to sale to finance some of the cost so it won't be too steep for me. -

iPhone aside it seems to match the pricing of other "top end" Nokia handsets whenever they've released
That's a bit steep isn't it? For the Lumia 900 I mean. It's not exactly top of the line tech. -

Registered 9 years agoAlso, overlooking the Lumia 800/900 because of the hardware specs would be a big mistake. The 800 launched with year old tech, but it all comes together in a phone that is so much more than the sum of its parts.GT: robthehermit

Registered 10 years agoYeah but Anandtech did have a point, sooner rather than later they will have to lead the industry not just do better than the sum of the parts.
Like the iphone I suppose. When that was launched it was a shit N95 with a touch screen, didn't even have 3G.
Now look at the cunts.
Come and get it cumslingers!

But at the same time specs do mean something if you want to run demanding apps. Though guessing anyone that way inclined is going to lean towards Android. -

Eventually though, with the 3GS apple stopped playing catch up and started to lead on specs. Nokia seem to be playing the same game now.Come and get it cumslingers!

Registered 8 years agoExpansys is selling the Titan for £299. Makes me doubt whether I should really fork out close to £500 for the Lumia 900 when the Titan seems to be the better phone. -

I even use zipping software on my S2 from time to time.
Also if you're got multiple apps running in the back ground.
For many people this isn't relevant, for some it is. -

That's a very "PC" stance to take. Upping the hardware specs to deal with "differently" coded stuff led to a shitstorm of problems on Windows. Why bring that forward to Windows Phone? If anyone thinks that sort of stuff's relevant let them use Android.Dizzy wrote:

FWIW WP7.5 doesn't even support "proper" background apps and no amount of hardware's going to change that, that's a limitation baked into the OS itself (quick-resume on WP7.5 is quite literally a jpg/png of how the app looked at the time it was closed - the app still has to fully load back into memory). -

Registered 2 years agoWill an unlocked UK Lumia 900 handset work in Australia, specifically on the Telstra network?
Might be wrong, but see a UK variant as possibly being more inherently compatible over here than a US one..
And I assume there'll be a cyan version available, as for some reason you can't get a cyan version of the recently-released Lumia 800 over here..?

Registered 8 years agoBought the Lunia 710 over the weekend for my ole mother and I have to say I'm pretty impressed so far but can anyone help with the following..
It appears that any friend requests she accepts on Facebook aren't transfering to her contacts, is there a way of refreshing this list in the people hub? -
There's a delay in them appearing on the People tile. They will turn up at some point but it isn't instant. Not sure how long it takes on average.

I've been a fan of windows phone for a while and after actually spending some time having a play around with it my opinion hasn't changed. The only thing that stops me switching from iPhone is the web browser unfortunately which personally I don't rate. -

The browser is fine though. Never had any problems with it, and it seems quote quick.GT: robthehermit
