A cynical attempt at teasing geeks out of their pocket money by putting pouty girls in lingerie and have them fight CGI monsters.

Looks horrible. Another special effects driven film shot in a garage is not what the world needs.

    PotC are all shit too.

If you can read this you really need to fiddle with your forum settings.

Looks basically like what the Japanese have been doing for years, only on a budget.

Ticks all the boxes... the a couple of boxes I didn't know existed... then a box or two that I usually have to draw the curtains to tick. So it's a hearty thumbs up from me.

I like the way most mainstream films are cut scenes from games these days.

There's room for thought provoking, intelligent and beautifully crafted cinema in most peoples lives...but the rest of the space should be filled with THIS!

    An airbrushed doll?

edit - holy balls is that really Emily Browning?

At least link to Carla Gugino so the older amongst us don't feel left out.

Zac Snyder is a brilliant director imo. Didnít really like 300 but it was mostly the source material, there were some fantastic shots in it, and Watchmen was beautiful. In fact, his Dawn of the Dead remake had one of the best opening shots Iíve ever seen. The genre of films he makes is making his skills go a little unnoticed.

    Anyway, this looks fun.
  • Deleted user 27 July 2010 10:08:45
I agree. Dawn Of The Dead gets unfairly shat on but it's really, really good. The opening scenes are fantastic.

I'd be keen to see what he does in future once he gets all the sci fi and action out of the way.

Dawn of The Dead is his best film. 300 was utter pants, Watchmen was good. This looks pretty ace it has to be said.

Although so did Cashern, and that was fucking abysmal.

Oh and I totally agree, for his age, he is a very accomplished director, certainly visually - although I doubt he has anything intellectual in his locker, but who cares.

I liked bits of that trailer but have no interest in the cast of 'bad ass girls'.

Dawn of the Dead was great as was 300. Watchmen... not so much...

It will be interesting to see what he does with no source material to slavishly stick to.

My thoughts exactly. Read the plot synopsis, and it sounds bobbins. But we'll see.

I'm trying to give Snyder the benefit of the doubt, but that just looked like a wank.

It looked absolutely superb. Even if its just a series of set pieces like the trailer seems to imply, they look so beautifully shot it should be worth a watch for that alone.
