@santashi Bugger, I wish I'd known about that - I pre-ordered it on ShopTo the day it became available for 69.85!

just a heads up on some reviews:

    OPM UK: 9/10
Just as the best kids movies have adults clasping their hands together in delight, Ni No Kuni is blessed with a surplus of charisma that can hold the most joyless, cynical audience in its charms

    Edge - 8/10

@Ror1984 Yeah, I had it on preorder from both Amazon and Shopto from when it became available in the hope that the price might drop before release. The Amazon one must have done so at some point as it says 54.95 on my order page. Cancelled the Shopto one as I doubt they'll beat that now.

Having a look through my Tomb Raider Ltd order also seems significantly cheaper than the current price.

@santashi I usually keep a sharp eye on my pre-orders, but with Ni No Kuni I just placed the order and forgot about it. Must be because I was so happy to finally have a concrete date on it ;) Which of course then changed!

I have my Tomb Raider Ltd order through Amazon as well, as they're about a tenner cheaper than ShopTo. I don't tend to use Amazon for pre-orders, as I've had a couple that came a day or two late before, but for ten quid it's worth the risk.

Even after finding the game page for this on PSN store there's no option to download a demo. Just spent a fruitless 15 minutes scouring for it. Tried the website link on the previous page and on both Chrome and safari I get " please use s different browser". Annoying.

Stupid Store. Can you A-Z in the demo section?

Press triangle and use the menu tab at the top of the screen. You can set to A-Z, newest to oldest and visa versa.

@Ror1984 I totally agree. If the price is about the same then I'd go with Shopto, but decent savings are not to be sniffed at. ;) There's 20 difference between the Tomb Raider Collector's Edition on each site which is way more than is needed to sway me.

Found it and downloading now. The demos section listed a grand total of two games. Found it under the full A to Z bit. Cheers.

Genuinely entrancing playing as a Studio Ghibli character, but I really don't know if that feeling will last and I can't tell if there's enough of a challenge there to make it a worthwhile game.

Looks wonderful but I think I might wait for the reviews.

I dawdled too much and missed the Amazon price before they stopped selling it so had to go with Zavvi (67.95 with discount at the time I ordered it). Interesting that Game are giving away the Japanese book. I already have the Japanese DS game so have a book, I assume the DS and PS3 books are the same (especially as the demo on PS3 showed the motion whirls for spells that you don't need on PS3) Didn't get around to playing the DS one too far, maybe I should...

Completely missed this earlier. I like that quote.

I can't decide if I want this or not.

Looks-wise it's stunning, but the overall feel seems a bit gay (for want of a better phrase) and the combat system looks a bit pants in videos.

Is the demo mentioned above available on a UK PSN account?

Just played the demo. I love Studio Ghibli. I love RPGs. This is going to be amazing! Can't wait for my Wizard's Edition to come in the next couple of weeks. If this is not my game of this generation I have no idea what will.

@StarchildHypocrethes The demo is on UK PSN, yes.

Are you a fan of Studio Ghibli by any chance? The demo is very brief (two timed, 25 minute scenarios), but it gave me the impression it'd be somewhere between Spirited Away and My Neighbour Totoro, so if you didn't enjoy those, you may not enjoy this. Saying that, I have a friend who loves most of Ghibli's stuff but hates Totoro, so who knows!

Best to give the demo a try - and try both scenarios, as one is low-level, with the limited HP, abilities and familiars you'd expect, while the other is a bit further in, with an additional party member, more familiars and more skills. Playing both should give you an idea of who the battle system will serve you throughout the game.

I couldn't find the demo via my PS3 last night, there was only an option to pre-order the game. Just follow the link HiddenAway posted on the previous page to grab it via your computer.

That is some seriously poor demo.

The thing is for an RPG with a unique battle system control I'm not sure if s demo will ever make it shine.

I died on the boss and deleted it. It's been so long since there was last a JRPG worth playing I've forgotten how.

It's too hard to gauge it on such a short demo. I just looked at the way it played, and the way it looked, which I liked.

When I hit the world map I knew I'd love it :)

    Well that was disappointing :(

The brief overview at the start of the demo seemed nice and set the story up as a classic Ghibli sort of thing. Unfortunately after that the combat system seems to be a mess and I wasn't actually blown away by the look of it. It doesn't look much different to the last couple of Tales games.

Might hold off on a preorder now.
