Okay. Guess I'll continue to wreck mayhem everywhere as I did in Infamous 1 then, although I was planning on being a nicer guy this time around :)

So what's the general concensus on this game then? I've played the first 5 or so hours and so far it doesn't seem nearly as good as the first game. It's also pretty punishing, even on easy you can be killed with one well placed enemy rocket or even just a couple of guys firing machine guns at you.

Definetely a few too many instant-kills for my taste too. I am halfway through and am taking it easy.

Much like the first game it feels fresh, fun and decent enough, but is a little too repetive and uninventive with its world to properly wow me. I am also a little surprised by how little they have advanced the engine and gameplay since Infamous 1. This plays exactly the same except a few new powers.

    Loved this.

I found it much more polished than the first game, too. Was one of my favourite games of 2011.

    Hated, adored, never ignored.

Is there like a cut off time for the end game to kick in? I am just messing around with side missions and collectibles mostly and I can see the Beast getting closer and closer.

Doh! An absolute fucking doh! on my side this evening.

Got greedy and wanted the ice powers when presented with an option although I was infamous and playing as evil.

The game immediately stripped me of all my evil powers as a result and made me a famous "guardian". So no I'm stuck completely underpowered compared to what I'm fighting and with no apparent way to go back to the "infamous" path.

Is there a fix to this? I don't want to be a goody two shoes - especially not as all my upgraded powers are on the evil side.

@matrim83 The beast only comes closer as part of the storyline.

I really loved this game and found it much better than the first. They seemed to only improve on it, I can't think of anything that was done worse in the sequel.

I don't think so. I actually found it a little odd how in one cutscene Zeke remarks that the Beast is 3 miles away when I could clearly see it was a few hundred metres outside of the city. I think you can also go back post-completion and mop up blast shards, etc. You've got a few story missions to go yet though. Let us know if you guessed the Beast's origins. I thought it was an excellent revelation.

There are 40 missions just like the first game. You can judge your progress from that.

I'm doing my 2nd (Evil) playthrough now, a year after completing it on Hard the first time round.

Recently started the 2nd island so I think I'm on mission 25 at the moment.

I LOVED the first one, but I just can't get into this at all. I have abandoned it. It just seems to lack something. I don't know if it's because it's SO samey. They really could have changed things up a bit. It's the exact same game with the exact same powers ( apart from a few ) and you doing the exact same missions/quests/shards and so on. I have to echo another comment in that the city doesnt feel as good as the first city. I think too many low buildings?

And yes those bloody insta kill guys with the rocket launchers are bloody annoying and it's stupid they put those in there.

I'm progressing through the game pretty rapidly, it's not too bad at all actually. Does feel so similar to the first game though. Once you get some of the more advanced powers you do feel pretty badass.

I also agree that the city's not as good, but the first one wasn't exactly memorable either imo.

Do they ever explain the contact woman (forgot her name) from the 1st game who was supposedly lying about who she was?
Maybe I missed some story but she doesn't seem to get a mention in the 2nd one at all.

    @Nazo
Moya. No, I don't think she gets a mention as it goes, but from original concept art for the sequel the Asian lass was originally going to be Moya. I assumed in the first game it was just different government agencies trying to get to the Ray Sphere and Alden/Kessler first.

(Think the threads broken because of a deleted post, so, fix! Edit: maybe not, weird)

I just Platinumed this (I platinumed the first too)! Fantastic game, I loved it all and getting the Platinum was fun(had to grind for an hourish to get xp for one trophy but that was all). I think it has to be one of my favourite games as I love everything about it. A potential 3rd game could be one of the best games ever.

I think i'm going to have to buy Festival of Blood now.

If you hated the first one so much, why did you play this one?

Bland environments? I don't recall many other games set in a fictional version of New Orleans.

Framerate was dreadful in the first game, yes, but i don't recall any issues in this one.

He is right about the missions. Too many escort this/protect that missions.

Its still a fun game though. I would say about 7ish.

Do any of the power ups allow you to jump further? Im sure I could jump tall buildings in a single bound and hover further in the first game.

So far, I think its better, to an extent that the first game. I dont know if it was what i did or didnt do, but I never knew what was going on in the first one. It didnt explain what a conduit was very well or much about the ray sphere stuff at all.

I don't think so. You can jump pretty far after skating the power lines.

All ps3 games are running on the almighty CELL. There isn't a separate third party processor wedged in behind the psu.

This arrived in the post today! hooray! 13 quid can't complain with that.

Enjoyed the first one, platinumed it as well. Been having a bit of gamer fatigue of late so hoping it can reignite something within.

/should have gave gaming a break for a while really
