Credit to bladdard, he mentioned it in the PS3 FAQ thread.

Pop the link below into your PS3 browser and it opens up an iPlayer type window and allows you to watch Movies & TV shows.

    http://www.blinkbox.com/

There looks to be a subscription option to Rent & Purchase Movies (No HD) and it all looks pretty good value. Perhaps better value than the PS3 Video store... Although it all streaming so you never actually download anything to the PS3.

I have only had a quick look (Checked out the Free TV shows) and it all looks pretty flash and nicely done.

    Thoughts?

It gets better. Series 1 of Bottom is Free to watch. :-)
Its 4:3 but it looks pretty good on my 40" lcd.

Oh and in a fell swoop of irony, the advert shown prior to stream is a Sony Bravia one... ;-)

Used it a few times this week, it's pretty good. Decent selection of TV & movie content and the quality is acceptable enough.

This is why it's good to have a browser on a console. Hopefully Sony will link to it from the XMB as they did for iPlayer.

also I looked at BB (on my netbook) yesterday. The free section is pretty good and the paid for section should at least give some competition to the PSN video service.

will check it out on the lolstation at the weekend

That would be good, but I cant see them endorsing this. It goes right up against their video store.

Although saying that they say, amongst others that Sony are their Partner...

Can't you run last.fm from the browser too?
I've not tried it but grooveshark is web based so that could be an alternative to spotify!?

Is there any chance Sony will ( or can ) update the browser ??
The browser is part of the main OS I think. They certainly have updated it over time, the odd tweek here and there. It runs a lot better thames it previously did...
I'm not sure what else they could do with it?!

Well more and more sites say the browser you are using is outdated. It's not good. Could they eventually support Flash or anything usefull?

To satisfy my curiosity, why do you bother with it for everyday use?

You know you can open Multiple windows right.
And to be honest it could be quicker to flick the R2 button to flick between the pages rather than having to push the cursour with the stick to a tab and selecting it.
Personal prefrence comes into it I suppose.

Watched a couple of episodes of bottom last night. I had forgotten how sick that program is. :-) Great stuff...

It looks like they have updated the interface and its pretty slick.

Just going through the free stuff and they have pretty much every eposide of Shameless, 19 episodes of skins, Botton, Peep Show, Original Doctor Who, The Young ones (:-)), That Mitchell and webb look, Hustle to name a few...

I also like the "Under A £1.00" section. Some half decent films in there...

I've been using it (surprisingly) and it's pretty good. The freebies are excellent, most of them can be had on youtubes 4od channel which also works on the PS3 browser.

Cheers for the credit kj66246 even though it was way back in may and I've only just noticed.
