Few sights as satisfying in football as Barcelona getting torn a new arsehole.

I don't dislike Barcelona, but I hate to see any team be seen as invinsible. Great to see the two underdogs go through.

An all German final should be a great match too

'@thisisanfield: Fair few have mentioned it, but this Bayern team is very like Rafa's 2008 team in Europe.'

We actually drew with them overall. Bloody away goals rule.

More importantly, I hope these German players can deliver next year in Brazil.

Bayern were never the underdogs. Only if you haven't been paying attention to German football.

Yeah the idea of calling Bayern Munich 'underdogs' in any match is frankly ridiculous.

@FWB I heard they were favourites at home but barca were favourites for the overall tie

Underdogs was more relevant to Dortmund really. It is good to see the German league be appreciated.

I wouldn't say it was a cert, but I think most people were leaning to Bayern.

I reckon the atmosphere at the final will be something to behold. I'm even tempted to see if I can get a ticket. Ridiculously overpriced or not.

Is there not a significant difference between 'German football' or any other nation (Spain perhaps excluded) and the actual nationalities of most players in these teams?

What is 'English' football when 90% of players on the EPL top teams are foreign?

    Some footballing bod explain plz

@RedSparrows Well, from what I could tell, Bayern matched Barcelona on a technical level, but were far superior when it came to physicality, fitness, organisation and efficiency. I would say that modern German football is a hybrid between technical excellence, teamwork and physical preparation, whilst English football still thinks that it's 1966.

When something goes wrong in German, they stand back, dismantle the thing and have a proper think as how to deal with it.

Here we moan and then attempt to paper over the cracks. Not that English clubs aren't successful, but they've never really played such all encompassing football and solve talent issues by throwing money at quick fixes from abroad. It makes the league diverse and interesting, definitely. But it has its problems.

And every year, the national competition years in particular, we have the same conversation, bemoaning the same flaws and same lack of energy being put into the grassroots game. Nothing will change. It's getting really fucking boring discussing English "talent". Can we just forget about the concept, please?

Bloody hell, that's an incredible scoreline. Dortmund rode their luck to the final, but this Bayern team are a machine. They really do deserve to win the trophy by a mile, especially after the disappointment of last year (and 2010). They really can't slip up at the final yet again, surely.

This whole "no plan b" thing is just bollocks though, isn't it? They were just beaten by a better team. I don't think they'll be gnashing and wailing, trying to sign Nik Bendtner

Euw I hate Bayern but they're the team to beat now, no doubt about it. I hope Dortmund has another upset ready for the final!

I don't think so, they don't seem to have any tactical flexibility, they always, always play exactly the same way and seemed devoid of ideas last night.
I saw an interview with Xavi last night and he just said they were well beaten in every single way, especially psychologically.

Totally correct. The turning point for the Germans was the 2002 World Cup. The team was all on their 30's and past their best.

Matthias Sammer, him of Germany capt for Euro 96 fame had a blueprint to have club and national academies. New blood to be used and its worked. It would have been unlikely that players such as Khedira and Ozil would have had a chance to play for the national side but defect to Turkey instead.

We need the same to happen over here. Young coaches with a long term aim to bribg through talent no matter where they live in the country nor what team they represent.
