@Raiko101 That's good to hear. Thanks.

Being a Vita owner I am always expecting to get shafted for memory all the time. :)

Nintendo really need to work on promoting Eshop releases more. I had no idea another Picross game had been released until I streetpassed someone who played it.

I'll never get my Orc looking the same again.

I still don't really know what streetpass is.

Is that Picross E3? I never got along with original Picross but I love Picross 3d.

I tripled my street pass hits in one go! walked past a hot spot on the way to post a letter just now, got 6 hits! woohoo! Also completed the Pikmin board because of it. The people i met were playing a good range of games from EO to FE, and all male, pleasantly surprised.

Imamazed - basically a street pass is just exchanging data with other 3ds as you pass them in the street- your mii meets other mii's and they give you items, and appear in your mii plaza. These items can be anything from puzzle peices, to helping you in the quest side game. They also exchange game data like mario kart lap times and ghost data ( i think) stuff like that.

In theory its great, but outside of tokoyo its quite hard to pick up hits, i only managed two till today and i had the machine since launch. So Nintendo have added hot spots relay where it stores data, and when you walk past one you get it.

So I have to my 3DS on and connected to wi-fi?
  • Deleted user 21 November 2013 14:24:23
Have it in sleep mode, basically on, carry it around with you, it will transmit data in close proximitary to other 3DS;s as you walk by them. No need for wifi.

I'd think so. Probably just needs to have its WiFi switch in the on position when in a suspected WiFi area. I bet it drains the battery like shit though.

Yeh the 3DS drains the battery on sleep mode so I don't tend to use it. May keep it on for a while and see what happens though!

I'd recommend picking up a cradle for your 3DS if you haven't. It's pretty convenient putting the thing down, knowing it'll have full battery when you next pick it up.

As for battery life for street passing, i've had the thing in sleep mode for about 8 hours before (during the Eurogamer Expo 2 years ago), and hadn't used half of the battery.

Yeah that's the one, these Picross games are still 2D ones though so YMMV.

As for Streetpass, I always take my 3DS with me to work on standby with wifi on, and when I get home 10 hours later it's still got full bars on the battery display so the drain is negligible.

I'll never get my Orc looking the same again.

It's much more noticeable than the vita though. I started turning my 3DS off instead of leaving it to sleep, and, long-term, the battery lasted about 50% longer. I didn't play that often, true. But the vita seems to last forever on sleep.

Yeah, the 3DS is not designed to be kept in sleep mode long-term, the battery will drain within days. I let it sleep during the day (if I'm the middle of playing something) and always switch it off at the end of the day.

@Matt36 FYI, it seems like games range between 512mb and 1gig. Animal Crossing / Mario Kart 7 are 1Gb, Mario 3D Land is only 512mb. Though games like Pilotwings are apparently as small as 128mb.

This little fella has had one of the best years ever in terms of fun software .
Tablets be damed ( although Year Walk is ace ).
Nice to see people are still interested in 'old fashioned' Nintendo.

I've been getting 10+ Street pass hits a day since they introduced the wifi relay thing. I used to get 3 or 4 on average. Just got my first hits from England, Germany and Canada the other day. Fun stuff. I'm going to get Street pass mansion.

So I'm putting together ideas for my Christmas list and I am contemplating listing a 3DS XL on there. I've wanted one mainly to be able to play Animal Crossing, Luigi's Mansion and maybe even Pokemon.

However, I realise that I might be entering this gen a bit late. Would you say there's a roadmap of games that makes a purchase of a 3DS a good one?

No I wouldn't say there's a roadmap, as your post invites a list, and lists are frowned upon severely round these parts ;) I don't think there's such a thing as too late though. Coming in now means more games available.

By all means have a look at the all-time list on Metacritic. I won't list anything as that's a list I've linked to, but Pullblox is really excellent and worth getting. Apart from that, it depends what you're into.

I'd kick the living daylights out of the producers of Tipping Point - Ghandi

That relay update really has done StreetPass a world of good for me. 6 guaranteed passes every time I head to work or go to McDonalds. I even bought the extra games to make to the most of it :) I thought it just kept the last people that past that point too, but it switches them around nationally, so I've got every region of the UK now, plus a Russian.

Noticed last week that the charge port on my XL is bent. It's charging for now, but only if the connection is held carefully in place. Apparently using a cradle will overcome the issue (as it uses a different connector to charge), but I can't find those cheaper than 20(!) online.

Seeing as my 3DS also has a big scratch on the touchscreen, I'm considering selling and just buying a new one. Will have to keep an eye out for deals. Shame the Zelda 3DS has a gold interior, would totally have gone for that bundle if it was black.

Not really a fan of that white 3DS though. Would prefer simple black or black/silver.
