    @Cosmopolitan Ridge Racer AI isn't really AI and you can exploit it by never boosting. Some cars will overtake you shortly after you've passed them and it's entirely unavoidable. Even if you're boosting up a long straight, they will go even faster to get past you. If you boost, you're only prolonging the inevitable.

    The best thing to do is to let them pass you and make another move on them to seal the deal. They wont give you any more hassle second time around. Not only that, the car in front will no longer keep a fixed distanced ahead of you, meaning you can then focus on catching up with and pass them.

    It's an incredibly scripted racing game, Ridge Racer, and you'll find you're actually racing against a script, rather than actual AI.

    To put it simply, lay off the boost as this will increase your overall race time, allowing you more time to complete these scripted events and get to the front of the field.

    That is good advice Raiko. I never realised before how counter productive boosting is in a race. Thank you, sensei :)

    It's a bit mental, really. I can't believe I had the patience to figure it out. Once I did though, it made things so much easier.

    My copy of Senran Kagura Burst was waiting for me when I got home. It is lovely and Japanese! A guilty pleasure no doubt. I'll feel slightly uncomfortable playing it on the daily commute. I will though!

    getting a 3DS XL questions:
    a) black or white or gold? i generally prefer having a black border around my screens, but i really like the look of the white 3DS XL. what's your experiences of black versus white? and how is the limited gold one, does all that gold "get in the way"?

    b) how limited is the zelda limited edition? i missed out on buying the animal crossing LE and now I'm wondering if it'll be the same case with the zelda one. for how long will it be around?

    It is a limited move set scrolling beat 'em up set in a girls high school where some pupils are, naturally, secret ninjas, working for hire. You can choose to wear less clothes for a greater risk/reward and when you get damaged your clothes do too. Of course. It has a nice anime style and has a fair amount of replay including the obligatory dress-up mode. Highly inappropriate but for me gaming has always been about oddities like this. A fair amount of my spare cash used to go on imports like this back in the Saturn/PS1 days. It's a totally different game but I put it on par with Project X Zone.

    @brn I have the Zelda edition but I have no idea how limited it is :) I like it and the gold doesn't get in the way, whatever you mean by that. Although this is my first XL. Before that I only had standard 3DS's - a black one (OK) and a blue one (horrible, did not like the color).
    I couldn't imagine going back to the smaller screen by the way, so XL is currently the only viable option IMHO.
    Actually this is how it looks in real life :

    @Wolves1877

    as awesome as that offer is, I guess you're not into sending it outside UK? I'm a bit low on money so I might go for a new one with a price plan instead... also, how does digital content work on 3DS, is it tied to your account so that it would have to be erased if I register a new account?

    @riz23

    Is SKB worth a purchase then dood? Is it a SF-style beat 'em up or more Streets of Rage style? Might have to splash out on this, been after it for a while.

    @hypoBla5t Definitely in the Streets of Rage/Final Fight camp. I bought it for £26. I wouldn't have wanted to pay more. If you are an anime fan and don't mind your games being a bit 'ecchi' then I recommend. Basic but lots of replay value.

    Other than it being ugly, what is the consensus on the 2DS? I'm considering picking one up today. The lack of 3D doesn't bother me, and the budget price means I can invest in more games.

    I feel like I've answered my own question...

    I love my 2ds - its super comfy to hold and contrary to what purists might think a pretty nice bit of kit. I got mine in the last GAME deal when it was £99 with animal crossing and like you said the extra £30-£100 you save by not getting a 3DS or 3DSXL means you can get a couple of games.
