Lego Batman 2 on 3ds is also quite cheap. And rather good.

Ooh Lego games - of course! That would probably work quite well.

Fire Emblem. Loved the demo thinking about it. I should totally just get that, shouldn't I. Is it still not cheap anywhere?

This year will be the year of getting around to playing my 3DS games I bought in 2013. Starting with Fire Emblem.

Heh, I'm still looking at Luigi's Mansion, Soul Hackers and Devil Survivor: Overclocked, plus I'm only about an hour into the new Layton and picked up Bravely Default on the weekend.

I don't think I'll need anything else 'till summer at the rate I play!

I've had Bravely Default since launch. Still haven't even put it in the 3DS. Etrian Odyssey IV. DS:overclocked. MH3. RE Revelations. Sold Soul Hackers in December as I needed the money and can't see when I'll get round to it :-(

Buy an 8GB or 16GB SD card and throw away that 2GB. Some games can be fairly big files so 2GB will fill up fast. SD cards are really cheap nowadays.

@Sir_Walter_Rally You can just copy everything onto a PC and paste it onto a new SD card, I just did it recently.

I don't know how big games are though tbh, but I did have all my ambassador games, Liberation Maiden, Animal Crossing and a few demos on mine. That pretty much filled it though.

You get a 2GB card with the system, but how big are the games to download (filesize)?

I know Nintendo's online is fairly crap, but if I download it to one card, is there a limit to the number of downloads? Say if I need to upgrade from a 2GB card?

Thinking of getting a 3DS (not XL) for Ł115.
If you're in no rush you can get an XL for a tenner more. I picked one up from amazon for Ł125 less than a fortnight ago.

Of course if you want the standard edition, then as you where :)

Fellas, the 2ds is actually a really solid machine. Friend is over with his, and it fits very nicely in the hand, it's a black and blue model and looks fairly ok too. I never had the cramps with my original 3ds that you lot go on about though so..... Might be different for you.

Yes, me too. The clam-shell design was always one of Nintendo's handhelds strong points since they redesigned the GBA. Anyone still remembers that?
Er, I also think a tablet-like slab is a silly idea. Might be suitable for some younger gamers though.

I can't help but add some sarcastic remark. As Nintendo seem to be going backwards with their design ideas, first they dropped the 3D and clam-shell, I suggest that next time they drop the dual-screen and return to the 'roots'. Lets just have one big slab with one screen ;-P Like the original GBA but bigger.

The 2DS is for kids, surely? No eye dissolving for parents that think it could actually do that, and no hinge for them to snap off. It's not for the likes of us. It's designed for a specific audience.

No idea if it's successful though, I'd have to see what a young 'un thinks and me going about asking young children questions about whether they prefer things that fold in half or rigid could get me arrested.

Dunno, but I've come across a few grown-ups saying the 2DS is insanely comfortable in their adult hands compared to the more boxy XL. Depends if you favour style over comfort over portability I guess.

So I suppose the 2DS is designed for kids and those of us old enough to be regressing towards childishness.

2DS was clearly designed for kids, for parents I've overheard thinking 3D will make their eyes fall out.

I think I'm one of the few mad people that enjoy 3D, on the 3DS, cinema and my tv (if it's not just crap coming out of the screen).

Anyway, it's been a long time since a console has had as strong a year as 3DS did in 2013.

@kadooosh I'm only about 3 or 4 hours in so far, but it's excellent IMO. I'm surprised at how nice it looks too, as I remember thinking it looked (graphically) awful when it was first unveiled.

What I've played of it has been very easy though.

The XL is miles better in terms of comfort, no question at all about it being the better choice.

Zelda is amazing if you play zelda for the gameplay first but if you really value the story, characters and art style (which are all pretty dull) then you might be disappointed.

The gameplay is the best its ever been though.
