I'm worried guys, my 34th birthday is coming up on Saturday and it's got me thinking about my gaming addiction....

I'm probably more into games now than I ever was, but do I need to stop at some point? At what age is it not socially acceptable to play video games? There's still an accepted belief that video games are for kids and lots of mates of mine have stopped playing over the last few years. I'm scared! Don't make me stop, please. I really enjoy shooting people in the face with a shotgun from point blank. Or ripping off a medusa head with my bare hands. It's bloody good fun.

I hope there's other gamers out there even older than me still going strong. Maybe we need some sort of middle aged gamers awareness society.

So what do you think? Can you carry on gaming into your 40s and 50s? Give me something positive to chew on while I take one step closer to the grave....

I was thinking about this the other day, I was wondering if there'll ever be a time when I don't play games. I'm easily still into them as much as I was when I was younger. I certainly plan on playing Final Fantasy 20 anyway!

When are you too told to watch a film, read a book?

The only thing which'll stop me is my fingers dropping off / turning to stone.

If Shigeru Miyamoto can continue to produce games at the age of 58, you are still young enough to play games.

Haven't we had this thread done to death over and over already?

    What a weird question.

The very fact that you asked it implies that you see gaming as a medium soley for the younger end of the age range.

I thought that this stereotype had been smashed years ago??!

I'm 40 this year and have been playing more games than ever.
Did 5 hours last night just in MAME. Then an hour in bed with 3D picross on DS.
The only time i will stop is once i can no longer see due to going blind or am dead.

this, but 37 this year - gamed for many years and don't ever plan on stopping

the only thing that ever worries me about it is (literally) dying in the middle of a game, that i'd never see it all the way through...:(

I'm a fun lovin (37) youngster no intention of giving up. My daughter (nearly 4) is starting to show an interest in the 360 as well, my little dud is only 18 months, but when he is old enough we will all be Gaming.

Yes Squarejaw, we have done this a few times now ;)

My mother is still gaming at 70+. All that happens is your tastes change...

...and in the case of Eurogamer forumites, you whine more about how everything was better in the old days.
