Really regretting getting the new map packs as I'm now totally addicted! I wasn't great on tdm but seemed to hold my own on capture the leader. I'm certainly far better at halo and bf3 than this so switched to vs bots. :)
    Play Guardian. Much more fun!

Who is around tonight? Had my meal already and am uncomfortably full! Should be on from 8:30. Would like to do some Beast if that is agreeable?

Not sure. I still feel a bit washed out after a night out yesterday...sitting up to 4am playing skyrim with more beer at home didn't help much either.

Ah yes, I did see your name when I drunkenly turned on my Xbox this morning. Thought I was dreaming!

I might be on after ten but most likely playing tomb raider. Will add you if I go on but doubt I will do beast.

Found something bad about owning all the maps, when I didn't I was on the player hosted games which generally had casual players on and I did okay. Last night everyone was top rank and I was getting hammered. On KOTH I finished 17-24! I like to kick arse and chew bubblegum not get chewed up. Back to bots :)

There is a mode where it's just the original maps. Forget what it's called though. That is how my ratio usually looks, probably worse! I blame the tools I use.

What weapon combo do you use?
  • Deleted user 3 March 2013 10:53:59
I like to use retro and sawn off. Gnasher is great but I seem to lose with it. Lancer is not good enough close range vs rolling gnasher bitches.

That's what the chainsaw is for...

Even I revert to it occasionally. Couple of nights ago had one really spongy idiot from France taking massive damage via shotgun, but I got in his face with a chainsaw, and it took him. Twice. He rage quit shortly after :D

So it's about knowing the maps, and deciding which weapons you are most comfortable wise for each situation, and the game type. For example, while I will often play sawnoff/retro for Team Deathmatch on Checkout, I'll play Gnasher/retro for Guardian. Most times I'd play Gnasher/Hammerburst for certain maps, but switch to the Lancer when I'm leader in a Guardian game. That sort of thing.

Do you aim with the shotguns? When close in I don't as you move quicker.
I'm not good enough with hammerburst to ever use vs humans. I generally don't use chainsaw as it seems to get me killed as you stick.in the chainsaw animation.

Love the chainsaw, shame the Lancer is just a bit to underpowered. Still my total weapon of choice, even though I tend to get spanked while using

I aim with the Gnasher occasionally but never the sawn off. I'm getting a bit better with hammerburst, especially getting the iron sights up as it uses less bullets to down someone. It can be lethal super reloaded. That being said, Lancer/Gnasher is my combo of choice online.

Gnasher & Retro. Blind charging round corners is great fun.

I still prefer the lancer. Far more accurate at distance. I like retro for charging and mulching sawn off using arseholes who try to keep rushing you.

My gnasher skills are 40-60 at best and you all know it! ;-)

Gnasher & Hammerburst, every time. Sawn-off is limited, and the weapon of tools. Lancer and Retro aren't as useful as the HB for me.

Lancer is all about the active reload, it is a little underpowered on normal reload.

As for aiming with the Gnasher, it depends on the situation. If I need to be more mobile, engaged in a dancing battle, or running in close, I can take people out without the need to aim. It's all about knowing where you have to position the shotgun when approaching someone, and it ISN'T over the person...

Will all pre orders have GoW 1 included or only some (Amazon do not list it)?

I'm thinking of ordering from Amazon. Do they normally get it delivered on day 1 or is there a better place?

Amazon is usually the day after release but that depends on which service you use.

Unsure about Gears 1. Shopto have it listed in a different bundle for 49.95 but you get Gears 1 & 3 and some artwork cards. Their normal Judgment one is 40, but it's guaranteed be delivered on release, sometimes earlier.

I got my first couple days ago :)

I was looking at duffmans stats last night. We seem similar but he has played a bazillion hours. :-B

Any particular tips for mp? I'm improving and generally getting around 1.0 but would rather it be more like my halo and bf3 1.5+.

Need to start shooting at nothing and perfect active reloading? I must be doing something wrong. Learning the maps more will obviously help too.

@Pepsipop yes active reloads are quite unfair but make a massive difference to how quickly you can kill someone. Active on the Gnasher can make the difference between a one shot or two shot down. With the Lancer the rate of fire and damage is increased - it's actually pretty ridiculous!

Right hand advantage is also a huge part of Gears. If you're behind a piece of cover notice how all the characters hold their weapon right handed.

If you pop out to shoot someone on the right side of the cover you can just get the muzzle of the gun out to get your shot off whilst still protecting most of your characters body.

If you want to shoot to the left of cover you have to walk further out and expose the whole of the player. This basic mechanic is the basis of which player comes out best in a shotgun fight pretty often.

If you're still doing shit just do what most people do and use the Retro Lancer and tag grenades to all the walls ;)

@Vortex808 haha. 'Colonel Buster' is also an absolute fiend for that. I swear he knows all the best spots to place them. For example the foliage near the sniper on Old Town. You can't even see them!
  • Deleted user 7 March 2013 10:41:07
@LeSpank thanks, need to remember to pointlessly shoot just so my bullets are active reloads.

Also I read the sawn off gib range now the same as gnasher. If that is the case why the hell would you use it?
