"Over forty and fruity" had their yearly "Saggiest dugs" edition. I loved it. ymmv.

Anyone know anything about long term anti-biotic use causing problems with the skin healing after a cut?

Apparently the doctor said something to my mother about it but I've never heard anything like that before. Would be interested in reading more about it but I can't seem to find anything.

    Caution: FIRST WORLD PROBLEM

I met a girl at a party on Saturday night, and after everyone else went to bed it went the way you really hope it's going to go (not wanting to be crude).

But then in the morning, with hangovers and whatnot I was too much of a pussy to get her number. None of the people I'm friends with who were at the party know her and I can't find her on FB. So, my question: is it ok to make a friend request for another person at the party (who I admittedly only talked to a little bit) who would probably have her in her friends' list (stupid private friends list)?

Facebook has turned us all in to retards.

    Yes that's ok.

Yes, you sad-o. She'll figure out, if she's not stupid, but life is about taking chances and who knows what it might lead to.

    A restraining order.

    But I'd go for it.

Well if you don't you'll look like a bastard who was trying to use her. So really you have no option but to try to stalk her. It's what she wants.

    Good encouragement you guys!

I suppose have nothing to lose but my dignity, which is only questionably intact anyway.

If you lost dignity, wouldn't that be one of those double-negative things which creates a positive anyway? :)

Why not just ask your friend to pass along your details?

Why would you want to contact some auld slapper who puts out on the first night with a total stranger? Get yourself down the GUM clinic son. Let us know how that goes.

This. Anything else would seem creepy (though a lot of the apparently acceptable etiquette of FB is a bit creepy to me)

    Isn't this the sticking point:

"None of the people I'm friends with who were at the party know her "

But he's identified someone on facebook who he thinks might.

Can't you just send a message to this person? Do you have to actually get in to a friendship with someone just to get contact details for a third person?

(tbh, in this situation I'd just accept the fact that I'm a slag and see if she pops up again at some future shindig. Fortuitous synchronicity ftw)

I'd message the friend and ask if he can provide the name so I can send the right person a friend request. Or send them your number and ask for it to be passed on.

What's the cut-off for these 'giving tree' things you see in the supermarkets - underpriviliged kids and all that?

Alternatively, any suggestions for how I can give a strange kid a toy without inadvertently grooming them?

Won one of those V-Tech things today, and don't actually know any kids.

And it looks a bit complicated for me. ;)

Google Translate - what's the point if if just translates word for word and doesn't make sense in the other language?

Google for local Children's charities and drop them a ring or an email.

    Simples.

Possibly buying a used car privately tomorrow. Any words of advice? Should I use one of those Text message check services? What's the safest way to pay?

Thanks. It's a 52 Reg. I'm gonna look at it tomorrow. Photos make it look immaculate.

Will probably do the My Car Check before parting with any money.

Thanks Billy. It's an automatic and the missis will be doing the test drive since I don't have my licence yet (despite my advancing years).

Apparently it has full MOT history. Also from what I gather it's being sold by a middle aged bloke who lives in a nice area which I'm taking as better than some 17 from a council estate ;-)

I've done a basic vehicle check via mycarcheck.com

The only thing it doens't give is details of any outstanding finance.Should Ipay 19.99 for this check on an 8/9 year old car? I've read somewhere that's it the sellers responsibility and I wouldn't be liable...

    Any help appreciated.

I cleared my credit card balance the other day but it's also taken a direct debit which I have set up before and forgot about. So, how does my balance work if I've cleared it to zero and it's taken the same amount again ? Credit cards don't do positive do they ?

They do do positive actually. I had an egg card a few years ago that had a banking error on it and was +2078 quidlets.

Well, that's good. Didn't want it to be lost in a black hole somewhere.

I imagine they won't charge me for cash advance in it's positive state? Makes thing easier putting it back in my current account.

Probably a bit late, but yes they will charge for a cash advance even if you've overpaid your credit card, although it depends on their rules. If they take a percentage, then you'll pay that. If they only charge interest on a negative sum (but normally without the interest free period you get with purchases), you may be okay.

Anyway, bumpwise, is 127 Hours worth watching? It conflicts with the snooker final. There's also an adaptation of Seb Faulks Birdsong, but I think I'll pass on that.

Cubby didn't know how to turn off sigs!

I'm recording 127 hours in glorious HD. I was watching an old top gear yesterday on Dave (the channel)and the star in the car was Danny Boyle. Apparently he didn't opt for a long shot on the cutting part. I am a bit squemish so might close my eyes for that bit. The film, overall, sounds more interesting than enjoyable if you know what I mean. It's not the sort of film/story I went to the cinema to watch but have been waiting for it to come onto TV as I do want to see it.
