This is actually pretty interesting - I hadn't heard of this before!

The emulator or the 3D? 3D is in most emulators these days.

    100% speed screeny for mike1985

No reason you shouldn't be able to achieve the same, especially on the more advanced windows builds.

Thanks for the bump Crispy! I'll be giving this a go with some of my Wii and GC games.

Btw both look sooo much better in HD especially SMG, just wow.
  • Deleted user 4 January 2011 23:43:57
What did you do to get 'em running faster?

They just look like games running in a higher res to me, nicer sure, but hardly a deal breaker. Applying lots of AA is win though.

ehh, im not too sure, I've been turning on and off so much shit that I can't remember exactly what it was.
Think I need to do a fresh dolphin install and note what I'm doing.

I've seen videos of it running full speed on pretty low-medium spec'd machines so you could well be able to do it.
  • Deleted user 5 January 2011 10:15:37
Most of the vids I've seen are running on OC's machines.

Gamecube stuff is nice and easy to run, Wii stuff is a bit of a pain in my experience, it may well be 2 GC taped together but there's clearly other bits and bobs in place.

Well yeah some of the Wii games are a bitt of a pain but some of the stuff runs fantastically without much trouble at all. Metroid: Other M for example pretty much worked at full pelt(actually its too fast) from the off for me.
  • Deleted user 5 January 2011 10:28:52
SMG 1 & 2 have no music after 3 minutes and have random slow downs here and there, so are unplayable for me.

Smash Bros works perfectly, as does Donkey Kong but it does slow here and there so I'll play that on my Wii instead.

Gamecube stuff is running ace though, any old excuss to play Wind Waker is fine by me.

Well SMG is the same for me, runs fine most of the time but the music thing alone is enough to ruin it as playing that game without the awesome soundtrack would be a crime.

I haven't tried any gamecube stuff actually. Might be worth giving them a try actually, wind waker especially, I've a huge back catalogue of GC games that could be worth a go.

The only problem with GC games is that I have no way of ripping them.

So far I've finished the Forsaken Fortress in WW without a hitch, looks lovely too. also had Sunshine running nicely, shall try some more tonight.

I tried playing through wind waker on dolphin and had a few problems, random crashes and odd slowdown even with settings really low. I would have carried on but slowdown on the sailing bits made them even more boring.
  • Deleted user 5 January 2011 10:49:37
What sort of System do you have? WW should run on most modern systems these days, heck I'm running it perfectly on the immature OSX build.

It was problems with the emulator as it didnt make much difference if i had everything on high or low
    Intel Dual Core E8500
    9800GT 512mb
    Windows Vista 64bit

Should run stuff reasonably well, try turning off CPU access.

Anyways, regarding GC ripping, there's a homebrew app for the wii called Wii Disc Dumper, should backup your games over the network fine.

I forgot about that Homebrew app for GC games! Score, means I won't have to go download a couple of gigs of files now!

Got DKCR yesterday as Assasins Creed is currently broken on me and I wanted something other than Halo to play through while waiting on the patch. Its working beautifully on Dolphin, only thing is sound goes dodgy every once in a while but is fixed with a home button press.

I'm definitely going through on PC rather than Wii.

Really sweet emu so far. Zelda looks like absolute dogshit, though :D

    Which one and why?

    Exaggerating much?

Probably TP, I found it looked much worse than WW tbf.

Still a really good game though.

Edit: I'm just referring to the console originals, I haven't tried either on Dolphin.

Yeah, Twilight Princess. I should expand slightly: running in normal windowed mode it looks as normal; setting the res to 1920x1080 fullscreen makes it look like blocky, jaggy powdered shite.

I'm guessing it's the textures more than anything else - Mario zoomed up looks frigging sweet. I'm tempted to connect a controller tonight and have a play through some stuff but then if I'm going to do that I'd probably actually just play the game on the girlfriend's Wii :D

    I'm a grumpy bastard.

That's cause it looks like a beautiful cartoon. Man that game its gorgeous, what was wrong with the idiots complaining about that art style. I didn't get it then and it makes less sense now.

    Idiots.

Getting a bit disappointed with GC support, it seems like every Wii game I throw at it works but most GC stuff doesn't.

Taking a fucking age ripping all these games too.

So what games have you lot got running nicely? I think we need lists!!

So yeah, any performance tips? Two of three games run nicely, but one chugs.
