Yeah it doesn't sound too bad actually, I still have little idea on how to do it but it sounds like people find it easy enough.

The only thing is I'm always wary when it comes to warranty on these kinds of things though.

Switched to the SuperNexus ROM for my S2,its noticeably quicker. I do miss some of the customization from other ROMs, the quick menu in particular. Plus, he stock gallery app appears to not want to read some of my photos, so having to use a 3rd party app (Quickpic). But otherwise, pretty happy with it.

Edit: cubby, they can all be unrooted and put back to factory settings if something goes wrong. The can check whether it's been rooted I think, but if it's something superficial I doubt they'd bother.

I know the S3 can be fully tricked back into thinking it was never rooted, flash counters can be reset and all that jazz.

Yeah I did that with my note 2 before selling it on.  Triangle away is the app you need in the play store

Heh, I had to. Its an awesome phone but after going to it from my nexus s and then getting my nexus 7 I finally admitted that the phone has one massive flaw. Touchwiz!

Just can't get on with it at all.

I guess I don't know the alternatives so I don't know what I'm missing, still loving my Note 2 :)

Or you could just stick a stock ROM on and be done with it!

Fed up of all that shit to be honest. Yeah you get stock but there's always a niggly issue that pisses me off.  I'm toying with paranoid android for my nexus 4 though

Anyone up to date on custom ROMs for the Xperia Arc ? I'd like to try a Jelly Bean based custom ROM/CM10 on it that is stable. However, Google isn't too good for recommending something up to date, and XDA is batshit crazy unless you have been reading it constantly (I've spent an hour or so before asking here and I'm none the wiser).

So if anyone has a clue, would appreciate a recommendation (I'm rooted, with recovery and an unlocked bootloader).

I'm not up to date on the ROMs for the Xperia Arc but I did find this on XDA:

There are others in the forum sub section "Xperia Arc Android Development". Just look for things with Jellybean or "4.1+" in the title

@theguy Cheers - yeah, I can see the long list of custom roms on there but trying to get an informed opinion on which ones are actually stable and useable. As I said, would like to give one of the Jelly Bean ones a go but they are/were a bit patchy. If anyone can vouch for a decent one ...

definitely tempted by the HTC One. Some good deals on hotukdeals, but none of them seem to let me add a PAC code. Has anyone done one of these and then added a PAC code afterwards?

The SuperNexus ROM I've stuck on my S2 is excellent. Basically just the Nexus OS. No issues at all so far. Zippy as

I've got a Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7 (yes, it's a very snappy title) - I managed to get it for cheap, even though I really wanted a Nexus.

Anyway - is it possible to move Games/Apps to my external SD card, or can I only transfer across pictures/music etc?

Content only since ICS I believe.  Apps can only be installed to the main storage. Yes its annoying.  It rendered the 64gb card in my old note nigh on pointless

HTC One vs Samsung Galaxy S4...

The One is really fucking nice. Not sure I'd bother with an S4 when you could get an S3 for a good price now. The only major difference being 1080p vs 720p, which doesn't really matter. S3 is a nicer size too.

My major qualm with the S series (I have an S2) is the green tint and artificial looking colours you get with the AMOLED display. Also I loathe the pentile matrix of the S3 and S4.

It's unfortunate the HTC One doesn't have a physical home button, but then I guess the power button will server the same purpose for unlocking the phone anyway.
Having an inbuilt headphone amplifier is great as it would mean I'd no longer need to carry around my Fiio E5 portable amplifier to power my Yuin PK3 headphones.

    Phwoar. I'm thinking Black.

Well if you hate PenTile you'll cum when you see the One's display, it's sharp enough to shave with.

Aye. This comparison image says quite a bit about how the different class leading phones arrange their displays.

Can't say I've ever noticed that on my S3. If I was in the market for a new phone though I'd go with the One, it looks like a tasty number.

    Portable view - Never forget.

I never really noticed the green tint on my S2 until I saw it next to an iPhone 4. It was literally white next to green. I can never unsee it now.

The one looks absolutely gorgeous I have to say.

I had a desire and quickly grew sick of Sense, is it improved any in the more recent iterations? Seemed it was getting more bloated rather than less as they went from Desire to Desire HD, Desire S etc.

Edit; not to mention the GPS radio was shit on my desire adn the same on my GF's Desire S, never, ever managed to lock a signal.

Reviews seem to indicate Sense is improved. You can just replace the entire front-end with another from the market so I wouldn't let that put you off.

Yeah as nice as these UI's look in all the promotional guff, I'll no doubt just plonk Apex on there anyway.

The HTC One does look great, but no SD card slot is a deal breaker for me. That's the main reason I went with the S3 over the HTC phones at the time.

Same here. I like all my music in one place and until 4G is everywhere with reasonable data charges, can't see me changing from local media for a phone
