As recommended, I watched the Doll episode last night.

It was really excellent, and a little different to the others, in that the events where much less his own fault than usual.

I love the bits where its just him being a bit idiosyncratic, you know, when he goes "Judy! Judy, Judy!" when he first meets the little girl. He really cracks me up.

I worry I am him though. I often argue with people in the cinema.

I wonder if there'll be any more series coming out on DVD over here?

The Doll episode it excellent and yet so painful at the same time. I recommend the one with the hooker and the spliff for Larry's Dad's glaucoma, though I can't remember what the title of it was.

Maybe that's the one to watch tonight then.

I think you can get series one here on DVD now. Presumably, as they get through them on BBC3, they'll release them all.

Are you getting them off supr, or is there a better source where I can actually d/l them individually, or at least by series.

I tried supr but wasn't having any luck actually getting them. Managed to get a mountain of them off kazaa though!

Series 1 is out on dvd, came out a while back. No sign of 2 or 3, i take it until they show it on the tv its a no show.

Are you listening HBO?! Your losing a lot of money! Well 60?!

I do find them quite hard work to watch. They remind me of going to see the headmaster at school or something. I just can't shake that feeling of trepidation.

It actually reminds me of Some mothers do 'ave 'em more than anything else, now that I think about it. That's the only other sit-com I can think of where something bad is guaranteed to happen to the protagonist. The Office and Fawlty Towers as well I guess. Still, its quite "British" in that sense I think. US sit-coms are nomally a bit more relaxing.

Thought I would resurrect this thread, just to say...

I loved Seinfeld, and own all 9 seasons on DVD, so bought Curb Your Enthusiasm Season 1 as it was only 13 in HMV. It's very different, of course, but so far I'm loving it, but I agree that they sometimes feel like hard work to watch.

The 'Beloved Aunt' episode was painful, and I've just watched 'Affirmative Action', where Larry is accused of being a racist. Just brilliant, in an Office sort of way, where you're almost watching through your fingers.

    It's genius.

It's everything The Office wanted to be.

You can see the cogs turning and the scene escalating and it's sublime.

It's just so well observed too. Like the one where he was trying to get past the fat woman, only for her to go ahead of him in the Doctor's surgery, and his two minute rant about the system. It works for me because I can see some of my own personality in his, because I get annoyed by stuff like that.

I thought the last two series (4 and 5 I think) were pretty poor. I loved the first three but it was running out of steam completely. theres only so many things you can do with uncomfortable comdey really..
my favourite has to be the halloween one where larry says that calling him bald arsehole is a hate crime..

they just finished showing series 6 on more 4 - absolute delight.

So. I accidentally watched an ep of this last night... season 6, 'The Lefty Call'. It's good. Really good.

Thing is, should I watch them chronologically? I mean, from an earlier season up to the current one? I'd read that the actors/premises improve significantly following the first two seasons, so I'm tempted to just jump right in with 4, or 6. (5 is crap, right?)

I enjoyed season 1, and have yet to buy others. I don't think you'll regret getting it, especially as it's about 12 quid for 10 episodes.

Also, is it wrong that I find Cha Cha quite attractive? She's pretty. Pretty old that is!!!11111eleven

If you can watch them all I'd advise that - and 5 isn't crap at all.

Its the most consistently great TV program for quite some time. Every episode is a classic.

    General Gaming?

And the other Curb threads are pretty welcoming... ;)

Season 5 only lightly fumbles the ball. For some reason everyone really is an absolute cock to Larry whereas usually they're just doing the human thing and he's the one that's being over-sensitive (even though we all think these things!).

Series 6 was an improvement, and for some reason it was only then that I realised that the show does slightly mirror his real life situation, as I didn't previously realise his real life wife was an environmentalist, and of course they split up in real life a couple of years ago...

There's the great story that when he split up from his real-life wife, the environmentalist, the first thing he did was go home and switch all the lights on!

It's in general gaming because it was started in 2004, before the forum categories existed.

@Pho-Zoon - you should start at the beginning. There are recurring jokes and themes that you need to see develop, and besides, the earlier series are better anyway imho.

LOL. My parents would be exactly the same. Plus, the cousin is superb, shame he wasn't in the later episodes.

Bit of a one-trick pony though isn't it Curb?

I've seen the first two seasons, but couldn't be bothered with much more.
