Registered 10 years agoOoooh, it runs on my netbook! It never used to, the graphics layer used to not initiate properly but now it does. Don't know if it was a Java or Minecraft update that fixed it.

Registered 9 years agoCamouflage, mazes, decoys and deadly traps are the way forward.
That said, I reckon I'll be making a wild west like town on the surface with farms and everything.

On some public servers I've been on they've locked areas so you can't edit them, or only certain people can edit. I bet that's the way forward.

Registered 7 years agoI started 3 different games of this last night, all great in their own way. On the first one, which was snowing all the time, I made a small cave and did a bit of mining and crafting. I went off exploring for iron ore and found some in nearby cave which I just managed to mine before being almost killed by an exploding creeper. I then went exploring some more and got completely lost before the game crashed.
On my second map, there was a lot of water and almost no mountains, just small hills and islands. Again I made a small cave in preparation for the first night and set about doing some mining. As morning approached I looked out my window to see a couple of spiders and zombies faffing about outside my cave. I poked at them with my sword through my window as I waited for sunrise. As the sun came up, all the zombies caught on fire. As I ventured outside I noticed that about 15 enemies had spawned all around my cave entrance... including several creepers waiting directly above me on a cliff. They chased me around a bit, along with about 5 spiders. After deciding my cave was obviously cursed I decided to try a new map again.
On my third map the generator got it right. Huge mountains, epic overhanging cliffs, floating islands, lava & waterfalls, the works. After a quick explore, I decided to make my home in a small cave near a river. While digging in my cave on my first night, hoping to find some ore, I broke through into large cavern with a waterfall coming down through the ceiling, obviously from the river outsite my cave. Further exploration proved that I had stumbled upon an immense network of caves and tunnels, complete with a small dungeon, various ores, nasty pitfalls and hungry monsters. I managed to do a bit of mining and explore some of the caves before I had to turn it off for the night. I can't wait to get home from work to see what else is down there.

Shit, anyone know where minecraft save files are stored?
It's just I got a BSOD while playing this, and now my world is gone! All save slots are marked as -empty-
I had just found a cave deeeeeeeeep underground with zombies, a fast moving river and what seems to be lots of gold and iron!
Plus the amount of work I've put in is quite upsetting

Registered 9 years agoIn XP they will be in C:\Documents and Settings\DDevil\Application Data\.minecraft\saves
Vista will be similar -
Found the save... Why it isn't showing up is another matter altogether.

I see these MP creative servers on the website. But where can I get their IP so I can enter them in the standalone client? -

Registered 10 years agoDDevil - This is a suggestion from the official forum:
Make a new world (Preferably a empty one.) and copy the level.dat from the new one to the one you want repaired (Back up all minecraft saves before hand, all the folders.) and it should work. You might lose your inventory though.
Edit - And this:
start a new game in the same slot. You willend up in another place in the same world.
-
Heh, that solution is from the thread I posted there. Just trying it now

D
Ah well, sorry 'bout that! -
Yeah, FWIW if it did work then it's placed me in some unrecognisable area of the map far away from where I was. Shame.
