I raise you one Coronation Street. The masses like dross, and I personally wouldn't say WD is that bad. It's not great, but I can see why it has mass appeal. I'd prefer it to have higher ratings than something as painfully regurgitated as the soaps.

Funny how a few months' hiatus can make you forget what a show is really like.

It is with fond memories of the previous season that I watched the season 4 premiere.
... only to be immediately reminded of its stupidity. None of the characters' actions make any sense and the dialogue is cringe-worthy.

Still, despite all this, it remains entertaining.
Anyway, at this point, the only way TWD can redeem itself is by having the entire cast torn limb from limb.
Except maybe for Daryl; he's all right. Michonne can stay alive too. However I fervently hope for everyone else's death.

    Watched it, loved it.
I see months of hiatus hasnt changed in this place, with people perpetually moaning its not like the comic. WE GET IT, it's season 4 now, we've known since season 2 they weren't gonna follow the comics. If people hate it so much, why keep watching?

As for the characters making dumb decisions? In this one episode, I fail to see what illogical decision that was made. Barely anything happened out of the show's reality FFS.

There is no Andrea, so the show is automatically better now.

And there wasn't much really wrong with the latest episode. But then, problems in this show don't usually start to show up until later. The criticism of many episodes of last season was absolutely justified.

But the Clear writer runs the show now, so hopefully his standard will be kept up!

There was a massive dumb decision in the episode, Rick going off with crazy and smelly knife lady (and gives her knife back)

You can watch this on AMC website if you have Unblock US. Quality is fairly poor though.

Disgusting really. It's mediocre at its very best and that's always in the premiere and finale episode of every season.

    The rest is utter dross.
Don't fucking watch it then, though if you don't watch it then you can't moan about it. It's entertaining and popular, get over it.

    Average episode but its early.

They need to actually build up character before killing them off and Hershal was a vet in S2 so why didn't they have him check the pig out?

And the zombies falling from the roof just looked

I thought it was Ok though not sure quite how the zombies dropping throw the roof managed to take the team quite so unawares. There were not that many of the zombies and when they started dropping the guys were altogether so it should not have been quite that hard for them to take them. Anyway apart from that I thought it was a reasonable start.

I actually really enjoyed this episode. The pig thing was more heartwrenching than Lori dying, to be honest.

These two episodes are a definite improvement over the shitfest that was Series 3, but it still follows the same tired cliches.

    Get bent.

Well, the show is also pretty depressing.

But yeah, it was a pretty good episode. I hope it continues to be good.

I don't really see how acknowledging when the show is good and when the show is bad is exactly 'depressing', unless you think basic and reasoned discussion is somehow depressing.

    Oh wait, the internet.

    Get bent.

I think the first two episodes of season 4 have been great myself with the introduction of a threat that is as terrifying than the Walkers themselves, only this is an invisible enemy that you cannot see coming.

PS3, PS4, PS Vita, Wii U, Xbox One, PC (Intel Core i7-4770K, 16 GB, 4 GB EVGA NVIDIA GeForce GTX 980 SC, Windows 8.1 Pro), iPad 4, iPad mini with Retina Display.

    Still pretty 'meh'.

EDIT: Never mind, plot device. Dead already. This fucking show

I think i'm just annoyed with the way they completely ruined the Guv'nors storyline and went a totally shit direction instead.

Now I remember why I haven't missed this being off the air.

I don't know why i still watch really, it's infuriating how crap it is. I love the comics and zombie movies etc. so i guess i just hold onto hope that this will get as good as they are.

    Reasoned enough for you?

I'm all for the complaints about Hershel not looking in on the pig and things like that. But the vast majority is just people trying to outdo each others in how to paint TWD as the worst thing since marmite.

Also, as others have pointed out, if you STILL think it will follow the comics.

    That. Won't. Happen.

If you can read this you really need to fiddle with your forum settings.

Look if it was that good a show then we'd all be raving about it (see the Breaking Bad thread) but as it stands it's NOT that good.
People continue to watch as the show has potential (last week was ok).

    You dare to strike Scurrcules!?

Pretty emotive scenes in that ep. Those two girls, especially the youngest can fuck right off though.
