No, I actually would be fairly pissed if Daryl went. He's actually my favorite character now, probably. Funnily enough, I really quite like Carol too. She seems to have had a personality transplant or something.

Daryl's the best character, IMO. I suspect Carol is just too damned nice for the writers to allow to survive, unfortunately.

@Scimarad I read an interview with the showrunner recently explaining why certain characters have died, and others that were in the running but have survived due to the 'evolution' of the story.

Basically, they're making it up as they go along.

I get that feeling with most shows, TBH.

Yeah, they're making it up on the fly pretty much. It's really quite far from the comics now.

They still dip in to them now and then though. That line from Michonne when she tells Rick she talked to her dead boyfriend after he died is straight out of the comics.

According to this Gimple fella there's going to be less 'run and gun' next season and 'more character'.

I hope that's not character as in season 2!!!

Little bits and bobs, sure. But probably should stay away from that sort of discussion in a TV thread. :)

Well, he wrote the most recent episode. And is now the showrunner - until he gets fired like all the other showrunners, at least. So I'm actually pretty optimistic right now.

I only started watching this last week. I'm upto date 3/12.

I'm finding it hard to sympathise with Rick Grimes and co. They don't seem like 'good-guys' to me. They demand help but refuse to help others, they prey on the weak, most people that cross their path end up dead. It seems Grimes has turned into the sort of parasite that only thinks of themselves that he used to be employed to protect society from.

He's willing to take shelter from those that were there first, he want their guns, he wants their food. If I were in his group, I'd have bailed a long time ago.

The Guv is portrayed as a bad dude, but Sheriff Rick is every bit as bad. I don't like him or his son. I hope they get eaten alive. Lets hope Andrew Lincoln's agent make some outrageous demands about S04.

    Good episode, granted.
But he also 'wrote' and produced Ghost Rider Spirit of Vengeance

Saying that, it was so so much better yesterday. Concentrating on smaller groups with focus is a much better way to handle such a large cast. That's how Lost got away with it early days.

Yup, a cracking episode. The quality of this show goes up and down like a fucking yo-yo. Michonne is finally given a personality! Only problem I had was the 'Previously on' segment pretty much ruined your black dudes return.

Spot on. I hope at the end of this season they kill of half the cast and have them moving more often. There's too many at the moment for me to give a shit about.

Is the next episode the finale?

    13 episodes usually right.

@Gambit1977 That must be quite common with TV shows - you may go in with an idea to write out character X at a certain point, but if they end up being more popular than you thought then the plan might change.

@heavy_salad very true, don't get me wrong, I'm not disputing it at all as we've all seen tv shows tail off in the wrong direction because the teen audiences like the funny fat guy or something. I just meant they had a few ready for the chop, but decided each of their respective families had suffered enough of late and Carole has a meaty storyline brewing. So x person went the distance.

He actually named Maggie, Beth, Carole and Carl.

@xYOSSARIANx that is pretty much the point of the story though. Who are the real monsters etc.

That is also why Deryl must die. He's too pure. Makes rick look like a weak asshole and bumbling fool.

Give Rick a break, he's had a tough time.

Good episode. Glad to see Michonne given a chance to show her quality, and nice (but sad) to see Morgan again. Also Carl stepping up but also being a regular kid.

A strange game. The only winning move is not to play.

There's one thing I can never forgive Rick for.

Why does he cover his shirts in frying grease? It makes him sweat constantly forcing him to tilt his head and blink really irritably. I also think the smal makes him breathe through his mouth rather than his nose.

If he just stopped greasing up I'm sure he would feel much better.

After the the first half of this season the show just seems to be treading water right now. Shame.

Why would it be shit to leave it there? Yeah, if he found the prison and went down guns blazing, yeah that would be shit, but leaving him crazy and alone? That's the best for the show and the character, imo.

Lennie James is too good for them to not at least try and get him back for more.

It's a shame we have to go back to the prison/Woodsbury business now. It's like coming back to the office with your idiot co-workers after a nice holiday.

But I did finish this hour mostly without an urge to punch someone. Which makes it an improvement over season 2 at least. Hoping they can ramp it up for the conclusion.
