It's still got it.
Good to have it back on, there really is nothing like it.
Yep. Nowhere else gives you the blood, the gore and the Gannicus four ways!
Am liking this a lot already.

Looks like we're going out with all guns blazing. Great ep.

I swore that after the utter shitfest that was Spartacus: Vengeance I wouldn't watch this new series, but positive comments here regarding the first episode have piqued my interest. So, two questions:
a) Is this new series (so far!) a vast improvement on the last series in terms of writing and characters?
b) Has Liam's acting improved at all (unlikely I know, but I can hope)
If you thought vengeance was an "utter shitfest", then, er, maybe you shouldn't keep watching.
Also, go to a doctor to get your tongue checked out. It sounds like you have no taste.
Decent first episode, Crassus looks like a pretty well rounded 'villain'. His bird also reminds me of Alithya, which is a bonus.

In fairness, most dads would like to kill 10% of their childrens' friends.
Fucking AWESOME new episode. My god, I wish this wasn't ending soon.
I also want that sneaky bastard Ceasar to die, but I know he's not going to.

Is no-one watching this show any more or something? Best show on television at the moment.
Literally just stopped watching the new episode. Utterly brilliant.
Okay, I'll bite: a question for those who loved Blood & Sand but disliked Vengeance - is this new series on a par with Blood & Sand or more along the lines of Vengeance (which I wasn't a fan of)?
And has Liam's acting improved at all?
well its going to be more like vengeance isn't it.
They're not in the arena and Liam is Liam. Andy wasn't great either but they're both passable.
Really enjoyed this weeks; was a bit fucking dark mind.

@RobAnybody I'm enjoying it far more than Vengeance so far - the house of Batiatus storyline has been finally laid to rest and this series is entirely focused on the slave rebellion clashing with Marcus Crassus and his Roman army, and is all the better for it.
Great episode. Can't believe I was almost starting to like Tiberius!
If you didn't like Vengeance there's something wrong with you. I mean... acting? You watch this for acting? ;p
Anyway, I can't really compare the two, as they're actually fairly different. Vengeance was trashy fun with some fantastically evil villains, but at times this season almost feels... deep! Complex!
There's a lot of shades of grey and twisted morality going around, and the villains aren't really all that villainous. Well, not on the levels of Glaber and Ashur at least.
One sore spot for me is Naevia (however you spell her name). She has one note - REALLY ANGRY - and plays it almost constantly. It doesn't feel like a natural progression from how she was like last season. And it's a bit annoying.

Yeah I hope she is offed soon. She's a bit too 'devil on the shoulder' whispering horseshit to Crixus.
I hope she dies in a fire, episode 5 was great though.

She's been bonkers since they rescued her from the mines.
Question: where is Spartacus's army? Doesn't he have like 10,000 troops or something?
I understand that they probably can't show much of it on account of budget, but where exactly are they and what are they doing? Every time there's a fight it just seems like there's only the main characters there.
@Mola_Ram I think the final battle has been glimpsed in a few trailers and they are there.
Guess budget means they have to hold back.
I see Caesar is hung like a kitten then. Chicken.
WTF happened with Caeser, am I being an idiot or did the actor suddenly change?
