Registered 9 years agoThe arena destruction was a bit of a cop out. I wanted to see Crixus and Oenomaus tearing the sand up, and then fighting their way out with Spartacus and Gannicus.

So very true. To his credit, this new guys giving it a go too seeing as they were pretty much impossibly big shoes to fill.
I can still F*****g not believe that Andy was robbed of the opportunity. So sad. The series would have been one of the best ever with him finishing the story.

Quality episode this week, I thought. Getting near to the best of
season 1. How much of a snake does Ilithyia have to be for me to almost feel sorry for Glaber? -

Registered 10 years agoThat was utterly awesome. It felt like a season finale it was so epic. Great to see Gannicus again.
The pace of the season so far is a bit weird, one moment they're moving stealthily through a forest, the next some of them are involved in the epicnees. I imagine the next episode will be a bit 'calmer'.
Can't wait for the next episodes, especially now three members of the senate (or whatever it's called) are dead.
@Psychotext - Only really dodgy CG was the crowd falling in the arena stands, if you ask me.XBL: rolemodel86 PSN: Syrette86

I think it's more a case of the show being different, as opposed to worse because Whitfield is not Spartacus.
I'm used to McIntyre now, I think he's doing a fine job tbh. No point sitting there watching it, wondering what might have been.XBL: rolemodel86 PSN: Syrette86

It was all over the place. That was especially bad, but plenty of the wounds were really poorly done in that episode too.

Did you guys hear the news about Jai Courtney (Varro)? He's playing McClane's son in the new Die Hard film, and if I'm not mistaken he's in another Hollywood film too. Good for him, shame they killed Varro off. I mean it was well done - quite moving - and it made sense in the context of the story, but I thought Varro was great.XBL: rolemodel86 PSN: Syrette86

Registered 7 years agoOk, that was MUCH better. Spartacus is still a girly man, but the supporting cast is really coming into its own now.
Was great to see Gannicus back, even in his new broody form. The Syrian is coming into his own too. This post is sponsored by Apple and the iPhone 4S. Think different.

Registered 10 years agoI loved how Ashur proved his point in the last episode:
by showing how able gladiators are, even he took on about 5 Roman soldiers and won

Registered 8 years agoThe German guy in the latest episode was pretty brainless. He sure won't be able to face the Romans now.
On another note, I find it slightly amusing how easily the gladiators have taken down even places that are supposed to be heavily guarded. The mines attack, for example, was supposed to be a suicide mission, but he only lost a few guys - and even then only because Ashur happened to show up. Same with this episode, really, except that it was even more of a cakewalk.
Which is not to say that I don't love the show to death. It's just funny, is all. -

The actress who plays her is about 20 iirc. She's actually been in a movie with the simply stunning Viva Bianca (Ilithyia) too. About prostitutes. So tits out there as well I imagine.XBL: rolemodel86 PSN: Syrette86

Registered 8 years agoFucking hell I love this show. Just thought I'd say that, because this season (including the latest ep) has been bloody great so far. It's just so trashily addictive.

Registered 10 years agoRemember when we (we as in just about every Spartacus fan on the planet) were worried about this season and how they'd cope without Whitfield and Hannah/Batiatus?
Credit to them for carrying on - with Whitfield's blessing - and delivering another great season.
To lose your two main actors after just one full season (plus Gods of the Arena for Hannah at least) is obviously uncommon, and I respect them for what they've done with the show. It's very entertaining television.XBL: rolemodel86 PSN: Syrette86

So this actually got good then? I turned it off in disgust halfway through the first episode and never returned to it.
