don't buy an xbox if you dont want rrod.

    Also, thread here.

More seriously, keep it well ventilated and apparently it's also more happy led flat? I had mine from launch with no issues until this weekend when it got the rrod. Others i know have had 4 or five boxes.... the only constant now is the everyone i know with a 360 has had a tleast one rrod.

It's not a ring. It's 3 lights. And you don't get it by luck, and making sure you respect the machine by making sure it has plenty of space to keep cool. Certainly don't use the vents to keep Blu Tack.

OK, I'm in helpful mode today.

What is the ampage on your 360? If it is 12.1, you have a Jasper. If not, what is the wattage? If it is 170, you have a Falcon. If it is 203, you have a Zephyr.

In terms of reliability (in theory), Jasper > Falcon > Zephyr. If you've got a premium console the odds are you have a Falcon anyway but you might have got lucky with a Jasper. In any case, the RROD is caused by overheating so ensure the console stands well away from any heat sources and anything else that can block the vents, and don't leave it on for a huge period of time.

And don't tip the console when the disc is spinning, it will be scratched and you'll need to buy a new one.

That would be Elite. Most likely a Falcon chipset. Check the facts and figures on the back to be sure.

The worse your spelling is, the more likely your 360 is to RROD.

    Its true. Check gamefaqs.

And not flaming, but take a moment to use capitals and punctuation correctly and you get a much better reception on this forum.

The guy seems polite enough, though. I'm offended when people can't spell AND they're offensive idiots but some people just aren't that good at English. Doesn't mean they're stupid or nasty necessarily.

    Can't we be nice sometimes?

Um, maybe he can't try a little harder. Maybe he just isn't very good at English.

I'm as much of a grammar Nazi as anyone, but not when people are politely asking for help - why should spelling or grammar be brought into it?

edit - wasn't trying to single you out at all LB as you have given helpful replies. It's just that as long as people are friendly I don't think spelling / grammar is too much of an issue really. Some of our best forumites are not too hot with the English language.

In theory, a 203 watt model could be a Xenon, not just a Zephyr, but it's highly unlikly to find one at retail now.
Odds on yeah, he's got a Falcon*.

    Xenon - 203w, 16.5a, no HDMI
    Zephyr - 203w, 16.5a, HDMI
    Falcon - 175w, 14.2a, HDMI
    Opus - 175w, 14.2a, no HDMI
    Jasper - 150w, 12.1a, HDMI
    Valhalla - Next one.

Edit:* I don't think Elites have ever been Zephyrs, and they certainly haven't been Xenons or Opus.

I want a Valhalla because all the other 360 chipsets go to Silicon Heaven, rather than Norse Heaven.
