Well, it's sleep mode, not completely off, so of course it'll use battery. Just like your computer does when in standby.

That said, even when off, the battery will lose charge on its own in time. No way around it.

Also, the PSV is pretty frugal when it comes to battery use in sleep mode. It won't last a month, but using it every couple of days you won't even notice the loss of charge.

It's not that big a hassle to just turn it off at night, is it?

Yeah, that's me and my 3DS, to the point I've started turning it off completely.

But that's how it works if you use something as seldom as that. I turned on my PS2 for the first time in 3 months today and of course the batteries in the pad were dead.

Don't think I've turned my Vita off since I bought it. I can leave it a week or so with zero battery depletion (wifi on) in sleep mode.

Give yourself 5 or gig, you're worth it.

Yeah me too, surprised at some of the comments above. I haven't turned off my vita in months, standby uses no battery at all.

I'm at the other end of the scale, left it in sleep mode once, possibly twice, for five minutes.

It's an indoor Vita, never been in the wild.

Well it's a wear and tear thing I suppose.
Although thinking about it, I guess it doesn't get very worn or torn.

so are you guys happy with just using one memory card?
playing one big game at a time. tranfering with content manager/re-downloading?
or if you use more than one memory card do you stop bothering with bubble order and wallpaper, and just let them lay how the fall?

i would love to just swap between memory cards..
maybe have ps1/psp games on one, vita on one or two others..
it'd be quicker and easier than re-downloading..
i just really like to set my layout nicely and have it stay that way
so i just use the one crammed card.. constantly shifting content back and forth to the computer.. and the more i am with ps+ and the more content i will get with that and from other purchases and software updates and dlc.. it gets more frustrating..

i do not just want to hope for a 64gig then a 128gig..
and what? have the older cards do nothing but gather dust? sell them to some sucker out there just behind on the same path?
i want to use more than one memory card..
such a simple thing that could be simply fixed in a firmware update but hasn't been...

I would imagine more wear and tear would occur in constant startup/shutdown scenarios than regular sleep breaks.

Put it back in the box with all the cables neatly twisty-tied up again.

Is there likely to be a price drop soon for the Vita?

Good good. I want one, but can't quantify spending that amount on one at the moment (to the missus, not to me). A price drop would really help.

143 from amazon.de with today's exchange rate. The euro is taking a bit of a battering with the Cyprus situation at the moment.

I take mine back to the shop at the end of every day and re-buy it the next morning. You can't be too careful.

That reminds me, I must get some of those touch screen gloves.....

    My Vita is always on.

I have two cards a 32Gb one that is almost full and a 8Gb one that is empty.

I have now bought a 1Tb hard drive for my PS3. So I can move stuff around and install some of the PS3 PS+ games I queued. (40Gb PS3 hardrive was pointless).

So how soon do you reckon for the price drop?.I'm getting itchy fingers lol but can't justify price of vita with a few games at the moment for a portable device.I think japan and us has already had a price drop.

While we may see an official price drop (maybe Round E3 in June), I can't see it being any better than some of the prices some individual retailers are offering. Sony are more likely to offer a 180-200 bundle with a game and an 8GB card, IMO

I agree. Some of the deals over Christmas and since have seen the vita going for around 140. That's a great price for the kit. Remember the current rep is around 220 for the WiFi version. They'll probably take fifty pounds off that then the rest is down to retail competition.
