The all star game should be real fun though, both sets of starters really feel like all star teams. The NHL all star game recently was a joke. :/

Im looking forward to the dunk contest this year after Dwight Howards total domination last year.

The game should be cool too, but i am expecting the East to cake walk it.

That's in no way a bad thing. Unless you're at work of course.

    You're at work aren't you?

And the game's at home, right?

    So you can't play it?

Yeah, just about to start. Howard obviously fav, but (spoilers for results of other random events) favs have been beat in the skills comp (D Rose won) and the 3pt shootout (Dequan Cook won!!) so far.

Rookies vs Sophomores was great fun!

Dunk contest started slow but got better as it went on.

Nate Robinson "won" but it was all set-up for him and Howard to be in the final round which is then fan votes. Rudy Fernandez had the best dunk of the night, imo, but Robinson's last one was amazing too.

Yeah, next year could be a blast, hopefully Howard will have something proper set up like the craziness of last year's dunks.

All Star game should have some crazy skills on display, will be a nice way to chill out tonight.

    Hehe, good stuff indeed.

Chris Paul was MVP for me, after hearing him set up that play with Shaq :D and for being pure skill, all the time. LeBron produced some sick finishes, but blew two of his best bits of skill in the last quarter. Yeah, Kobe had the "best" game I guess, but it felt too much like he was playing it like a regular game. :/ We know you can drain the outside shot Kobe, give us something a bit more original!

    Ahhh, ok makes sense.

Anyway, all discussion is moot because the Celtics are going to take it again!!! It's like The Chief, Bird and McHale dominance all over again. :p

Well, I definitely see a lack of drive from them this year as opposed to last. I still believe they're the best team in the league, though. They seem to be doing "their best" until playoff time - at which point they'll turn on the thunder!

Cavs are good either way, but I don't like that they're mostly a 1-man team. You'll never win the title like that...even if that 1 man were Jordan.

"Is there another, watchable, alternative to watching games without Sky?"

Sky don't even show NBA games, i've got NBA League Pass (See NBA.com). Can stream live games or watch them on the replay service they do (although the games just loop over and over, you can't actually control/skip parts of the game)

I'm a Lakers fan btw, didn't see this thread before, all star weekend was decent, last dunk by Nate Robinson was crazy!

    Cavs/Magic game three half time:

Howard has been called for three ticky-tack fouls and has sat most of the half. The King has been beasting at both ends of the floor - has a "mere" 18 at the half. Magic have been up by as many as ten early doors, down by five a few minutes ago but Cleveland went cold at the end of the half to leave Orlando up by one at the break. Once again, Orlando (especially with Howard out) seem to be forgetting far too much that they've killed Cleveland on the inside when they've gone there - same as Denver last night getting too anxious to hit the outside jumper.

    Final:

Not quite the slice of amazing we've become used to in these conference finals, as Orlando kept Cleveland at arms length right down the stretch. Howard was big once back in the game - mainly because he shot his fts really well as Cleveland kept on sending him to the line rather than giving him the sort of shots he was making in game one. In one crucial twenty second stretch he made two, and then LeBron missed two down the other end, and it felt like that kind of summed up the way this game was going. Still feel like this will go to seven, but that Denver have blown their shot with the loss last night.

The third round of the NBA playoffs are much more exciting than the NHL conference finals. It was the other way round in the second round.

afaik it "counts" so he can't afford to get T'd up again.

edit: apparently I was behind the times. It's been rescinded.

edit2: heh, yeah, having now read the EPSN article it happened about 30 minutes ago so I wasn't that far behind.
