    Although it's not a new announcement I couldn't find an existing thread for this... And yes I mean Saints Row 3, not 2.

    Anyway, Volition have said they're moving in a "new direction" with this sequel. I'm hoping it'll be TEH FUTUR with like hovercars and even more ri-cock-ulous stuff. Anyone else?

    Saints Row 2 was brilliant, and more fun than GTA IV. Yes, it didn't push the medium of gaming so far, or strike such a good satirical note (although it had its moments). But it really was fun, something too many games forget too often.

    I expect SR3 to be similar to the last one, but using the same engine they used in Red Faction Guerilla. Which would do me fine.

    While I wouldn't consider it one of the best games ever, it was entertaining. It may not be the most sophisticated thing in the world, but the unrealistic, over the top silliness did hark back to the GTA of old, now that it's moved into the dark and gritty sandbox.

    If the "new direction" involves heightened realism and an oscar-worthy (ignlol) deep and meaningful storyline, then they can fuck off.

    Fingers crossed they realised people enjoyed the game because it was everything GTA used to be.

    I liked the first one. The second one was good.

    I'll never forget playing insurance fraud in online co-op and somehow getting stuck inside a bus (warp bug), and just watching corstick through the window in absolute disbelief as the bus drove off down the motorway with me stuck inside.

    I'm not sure what some others would claim a game needs in order to qualify for this title, and while SR2 didn't have a particularly great storyline or characters, it was simply very fun to play, had a lot of modes and options.. and I got hundreds of hours out of playing it. I'm sure I'll go back and play through it all again at some point to.

    Even if it was just a clone, none of the GTA games come close to offering the same degree of enjoyment and sheer fun.

    I don't imagine Paris Hilton is very fun. She is probably a bit tiresome, being an always-on business woman and all.

    Saints Row 2 is the shit, however.

    This. I tried TWICE to get into it but ended up exchanging it for Prince Of Persia, which within seconds gave me more enjoyment. The cars steer like shite and slapstick humour triggers just about every cringe nerve ending within my body. A shame, considering the quality voice acting talent on board.

    I wouldn't mind seeing it go to simulating a country, removing the tearing and perhaps dumping the gangstar stuff and making the script a bit more quality.

    EDIT:

    oh and cars that don't steer in 90 degree iterations.

    Something wrong with your brain if you couldn't enjoy Saint's Row. Far more entertaining than the dreary grey and brown snooze-fest that GTA has turned into.

    Saints Row 2 is like shagging a fat bird , fun at first but then you realise what a horrible mistake you've made when it lasts longer than 5 minutes.

    saint's row rocked, it was all the fun the GTA used to be before RockStar got too concerned about realistic car handling and making everything look loike it had been dipped in shit (seriously the whole game was brown)

    Sain't row three is to be the conclusion of the Third St Saints story, what happens with Dex, Troy, Johnny and you the main character. I can't wait!

    Speaking of story, what was going on in the middle of GTA4, it starts and ends well, but when it got into the mafia families, diamonds and syndicates I lost interest, none of it felt relevant to Niko
