Who on earth thought it was a good idea to make a a live action movie of fucking *Garfield*.

I don't think I've ever been less interested in a movie.

    Edit: borked link

Well I didn't put that much thought into it. As evidenced by the spelling of Garfield.

The movie industry has completely gone to pot. Stupid licenses, constant remakes of movies that were fine as they were, an endless horrific stream of 'no plot' action movies... where will it end?

They're remaking The Pink Panther, for fuck's sake! The Pink Panther! With Steve Fucking Martin!

Yeah, I remember taking part in a pub quiz that asked "what is Steve Martin's real name?" and I used that answer, but I was wrong, apparently.

Just so you know. For future reference, like.

I love Garfield, but I definitely won't be going to see this. It'll end up being another Scooby Doo (which I insist on referring to as Scooby Don't) and being complete and utter shite. A new feature length cartoon would be nice though.

Haha, look no further than maddox.xmission.com to see how I've always felt about Garfield.

I don't think I've ever disagreed with Maddox on anything, in fact!

    no.

    No no no no no!!!!!

If for any reason other than it's a shite idea, I really don't want to see fat nerds walking around in piss-stained garfield T shirts again.

He's already destroyed on comedy memory, with his Sgt Bilko. What next? "Steve Martin is Spike Milligan in Goon Show the Movie" Cue terrible bluebottle impression with american accent.

Well, thats an interesting thoguht, but the rumor I heard a while ago was that he was going to be Ted in the US version of Father Ted...

An even better bit of casting was that Graham Norton whould be Dougal.....

If thats true its time to pluck out my own eyes with a spoon..

So "The Office" failed in America (well the Yank version) which surprised me as the humour is very "american" (ie not funny at all) - now they're thinking of bringing Father Ted to a nation of religious maniacs!? Yeah that'll work.

    Spose so!

Actually thinking back to the original subject of the thread...methinks it'd be great to see an animated "Fat Freddy's Cat" movie. Animated as in proper cartoon animation done in a scratchy "Fritz the Cat" stylee, none of this CGI bollocks.

Getting back OT, has anyone watched any of the US coupling eps? It isn't exactly suprising that it'll fail because they've managed to find people who really can't act (you think the UK series is bad? this shows just how great the UK actors really are) and the flow has been completely destroyed by having massive gaps for the studio audience to laugh.
