    My dick is Moby.

A strange game. The only winning move is not to play.

I cam see it's quality, it just didn't grab me - probably it doesn't have the same sensational hooks of a show like The Shield or Dexter.
Fuck me you never just talked about dexter and the shield in a discussion about the wire. You shouldn't be allowed an opinion.
  • Deleted user 19 May 2013 00:57:10
Sorry but as good as they are they are itv dramas compared to hbo masterpieces.

for me the wire was very good for 3 seasons but the last 2, and especially the last, werent all that. BB has been superb for every season. Of course the second half of 5 could end up being shite but i just dont see it

Ah mowgli, i agree about dexter which peaked at season 4 and has been shit since but the shield should defo be discussed as one of the greatest shows ever. dont think ive ever seen a greater season finale.

So how ye wanna see it end? Im hoping for Jesse to get his revenge, surely everything Walt has done to him has to come out but unless Walt confesses then dont see how it will

The character development in The Wire is excellent, look at how Prez, Bodie or Carcetti change from when they are first introduced for example.

Also, it's fairly pointless to go around trying to objectively rank great TV shows, particularly if they're in completely different genres. They're great in different ways.

I just watched the first two episodes again with my parents. I'd forgotten how funny it was before all of the madness began. My dad is a chemist, so he could see what was going to happen with the bathtub. :D

Come to think of it, that's one of my favorite moments in the whole series.

Well, it's not fucking Shakespear, you be taking it a bit far imo.
I don't think anything can be compared Shakespear, maybe if you were talking about that dude who lived in the Tudor period and had that fancy playhouse..... whats his name again?

When is Better Call Saul airing then? Not that I'm in a rush as I've still not seen the last series of BB (waiting to get closer to the last series and having a massive rewatch from beginning to the end).

Recently watched a bit of series 1 again and can't believe that Walt is supposed to be the same person, but that change happened so gradually you didn't really notice it.

My take on it is that the cancer diagnosis did in effect, kill Walt as a person.
I don't think it was the cancer, I think it's much simpler in that he got a taste of something he enjoyed. While his actions were out of desperation you sense he loves the rep and the power and you do feel that he was actually revelling in his new life until it starts getting ugly, even then I still get a vibe that somewhere in his head he is still enjoying the danger and stakes of his new life to the point I felt he almost got joy out of planning the Gus hit.

Obviously a lot happens to mould the character over the series but I reckon in doing what he was doing to stop his death, the path he picked, he actually felt more alive than he had in his whole life up to that point.

Keeping in mind that it was Jesse who first suggested going into distribution. It wasn't all Walt's initiative.

For me, keeping in mind the timeframe of the show (barely a year has passed in its timeline), things have escalated just a tad too quickly for me. The first couple of seasons are actually fairly realistic and naturalistic, but it's quickly gone into fantasy land. I still bloody love it, but some of the jumps have been a bit far for me.

Whilst I do agree with you (it was definitely jarring to see how much time had actually passed when they showed Walt's birthday), it is always indicative of a series like this, it would be immensely hard to tell the story you want to tell and still have it at a more realistic timeframe.

And hey, just compare it to 24 and it definitely comes out favourably.

    Get bent.

God damn, I just watched the Better Call Saul episode again. Fucking hell this show is hilarious at times.

"If you ask a cop if he's a cop, he has to say yes. It's, like, in the Constitution yo"

"You don't want a criminal lawyer; you want a criminal lawyer"

According to their Facebook update, there are 54 days until the show returnable on August 11th. Which means you could watch one episode per day while waiting.

It's a great show, I'm re watching it at the moment as I managed to get the missus into it. I really miss the undertones pf black comedy from the first 2 seasons, the show just got more serious as Walt did. I miss watching him bungle through one situation to another. :(
