Just for that, no evacuate this time around!

No cheap farming tricks for you ;-)

Fuck that, it's a utility spell!

Actually, I suppose we could go without, it's not like the levels take ages to get around now we know them

I was just thinking that as we both rarely get that much time gaming, do we really want to have a slow paced / slow levelled character in demons?

Yeah that's true. Ok, evacuate is allowed!

So it's basically a pure dex / fatal / ninja build, but with enough faith to use evacuate?

I guess it's sticky bow rather than lava bow then?

Just need 40 mp, 1 spell slot, 10 Faith, and 20k souls for evacuate. Don't need to rescue Urbain either. 10 Intelligence gives you 65 mp, so shouldn't need to level that.

I prefer the sticky bow, but I don't really mind to be honest. You have to do flamelurker obviously for lava, but then again, you need the ore from world 2 for sticky anyway, so....whatever really

Obviously, we've got to look stylish, and fuck defense, so I'm thinking the Rogues gear for a change -

Probably with the thief's mask though. That gold thing is gaudy

Would make a change from the black leather I suppose. What's the weight though? My ninja can't be fat rolling :)

@robc84 Well it's been a while, so forgive me for forgetting its shards of archstone. ;)

quaddy, stop using spells to speed up farming, if that's how you've decided to play. Utility or not, a spell is a spell.

@robc84 - The chestpiece only weighs 1.5, so I reckon it'll be fine

@Moot - Just takes too long otherwise. If I had zero other games to play and all the free time in the world, it'd be a different story.

    But I haven't :)

I'm with Quad. No time to be messing around running back to the Nexus. Playing time too limited for that :)

It wouldn't feel right to do the 4-2 farming run without evacuate!

I always found it much quicker to simply throw myself off a cliff when farming 4-2. One less loading screen.

Yeah I lost around three hundred thousand souls once because I forgot to touch my blood stain during a run. I cried then laughed then cried again.

    :)

Plus you'd need to eventually take all the souls back at one point

plus I don't trust myself near cliffs

    :)

About as well as edging my way around Huntsman's Copse and the Iron King boss area.

Oh if only the soon to be patched air walking of DS2 was a workable glitch in Demon's Souls. Cliff edge immunity for everyone! :)

Went a different route of progression for a chance and grabbed the blessed mace in 5-1. Not as hard as i expected so far, although my lack of ranged options is hurting me and makes me rely on firebombs(not many left of those).

5-2 might prove to be more of a hassle with the poision so i might decide to go back to one of the other worlds instead.

@Scimarad Yes, i thought the script so bad, action everywhere, no plot, no characters to be remembered.

This was the choice Rob and myself did last time. Upgraded, the blessed mace is a powerhouse. Takes a while to get the shards and chunks (world 5) but at least you can get the pure stone in the nexus with the only requisite being to have 20 faith (think it's 20 anyway)

Yeah, blessed weapons rule. Although I ended up with the blessed bastard sword in the end. Hits a bit harder than the mace. Although the mace is still more than adequate. Wanted the crescent axe but it wouldn't drop.

Weird thing about faintstone is that the pure and chunks are relatively easy to get. It's the shards that are a pain.

I finished replaying this a couple of days ago (first time since 2010). I chose a mage build to see if what everyone said about magic being ezmode was true. It was. Most of the bosses I killed first time, including the horrendous Flamelurker and Allant (though in the latter's case I did burn through most of my magic replenishment items plus a load of grasses).

The Astrea boss fight is so sad. Parrying Garl like a motherfucker was hugely gratifying, though :D

5-2 can suck my balls for all eternity.

There's nothing wrong with 5-x. Far better designed than either blighttown or the gutter/black gultch IMO.

The Gutter I'll give you. Its awfulness is beyond words and rivalled in DS2 only by The Shrine of Amana and Undead Crypt. The Black Gulch is annoying but short and there's a bonfire literally seconds away from the boss. Blighttown isn't so bad once you take care of the poison dart fucks and, again, has a bonfire from which you can run straight to the boss.

The second stage of the Valley? SLOW. Giant Depraved Ones spell death for a lightly armoured character with low-ish endurance who, though force of habit, repeatedly attempts to roll in the water, causing a poxy seizure that lasts several agonizing seconds. Then there's the shanty town part where you have to inch your way through lest you get ganghumped by Depraved Ones (you may be able to run through, I dunno, but I didn't fancy chancing it).

Probably my least favourite area in any Souls game bar those arsepains in DS2.

    @FabricatedLunatic

5-x can definitely be a complete twat depending on your build. I'd hate to go through it with anything other than a dex or cleric build.

But once you start farming a bit for the shards, the shantytown becomes second nature. And an upgraded blessed mace makes short work of even the giant depraved ones.

    But yes, generally, it's a bastard :)

When you go through 5-2 once, there's a shortcut you can open that negates the need for multiple bonfires. That was the beauty of the design. In the dark games, there are far too many bonfires, they're everywhere!
