Sounds like Djokovic had a bit of a stinker -- 54 unforced errors in two sets. Saw some brief highlights on ATP Masters Series TV and it looked like Murray was hitting the ball well though. I'll have to download myself the whole match. -
I watched the end.
I'm not a big tennis fan but it was on so I stuck with it till the end.
Not bad, one absolute fantastic rally in there aside from that nothing too special. -

Registered 10 years agoIf you mean the rally at 4-4 in the second breaker then you're damn right, but there were some other outstanding points.
They both looked absolutely cooked in the heat, tbh, and Djoko fell apart at times. It felt like Murray won far more convincingly than six and six.4235

I'll be very surprised if he doesn't win the US or Oz in January. -

He did play very well, but he looked knackered. That's my only problem with Murray. He just doesn't look like he's got the legs to win 7 best of 5 matches. Best of 3 and he can compete with anyone.

Nadal is tired, Feds isn't the real Feds at the moment and he's beaten Novak twice in the last 2 tournaments.
Of course he's got a chance and a good one at that, which is reflected in the odds. About 10-1, 4th lowest odds, after the top 3. He's not the favourite obviously but he's got a very good chance.
If you bet on him before these two tournaments you'd have got better odds. -

It's not a daft statement at all. I like Murray and he's got a great talent, but at this stage in his career he hasn't got the legs to win a slam. They were discussing it after the final and flemming pretty much said the same thing.pistol wrote:

And I wouldn't discount fed or Djokovic in New York. Slams have a habit of making the big boys play their best tennis. -

Nadal, has beaten all of those you've listed and as for Nalbandian and Hewitt. Neither are in good form at the moment and I suspect will got out early.
At least now Murray can rest his little legs for the US Open, although I still suspect he'll go out in the 3rd or 4th round there. He really needs to sort his head out as he's still mentally very weak.

It's not really. Hewitt is a spent force and his best days are behind him. Not sure what's going on with Nalbandian but he's playing like a chomp too atm. Only player in form there is Djokovic who has beaten Nadal recently.

Berdych could give Federer trouble if he's on. He beat Federer in the 1st round of the last Olympics. Obviously Fed's a differerent player now but the memory might come back to haunt him..

I actually have a small inkling that Murray does, at least for this week, after watching his two matches. I'm not sure, because at the end of the day you're spot on, but I think he wasn't fussed at all about going out in the singles but would like to get a medal with his brother.smugla wrote:

Registered 10 years agoAndy and Jamie seemed rather frosty toward each other yesterday during the match. They barely spoke to each other during the change of ends and left the court seperately too. Might have just been Andy being miserable due to his singles exit, but I was surprised they won given their on-court demeanour. Thankfully Niemeyer is a mug. -
