It's called "getting involved". See, if I have an opinion, I like to share. Sort of the point of a forum, correct me if I'm wrong. :)

It's not a dig but there's not a thread I don't see you posting in these days is all.

Were you asking for other artist recommendations by the way?

    Hmmm, tried this stuff out thinking it's be more like d'n'b. Why did nobody warn me what it was like ? ;_;
    Not for me, thanks.

It can be varied at times and there is some crossover stuff.

edit; but yeah, it is an acquired taste and in my experience there is a time and a place for it (and a state of mind and if you're that way inclined, a state of being, and intoxication).

I can't picture a time and place that I'd be happy listening to it, to be honest mate. Sounds like the sort of stuff that people play when I'd rather hear some Squarepusher/Autechre :)

Well a lot of people into their dub like to smoke the ganj, and I think it's reasonably fair to say that goes for a number of dubstep fans too...

... I said 'a lot'. Not 'all' or even 'most'.

I listen to dark and heavy dnb whilst chilling too, if anything it helps...

Hard d'n'b is ideal driving music for me - not too loud, more like background noise TBH.

Lincoln is getting pretty good for dubstep atm. Nero are playing here in Lincoln in a few weeks which is awesome, though I'm the only one I know out of my friends who really knows them already.

I still don't get this stuff. Played some more last night after being at a wedding reception where everyone seemed to be well into it on Saturday - my missus summed up my feelings quite well when she said "I suppose you could use it as an intro to a drum 'n' bass set."

    /shrugs

    Not for me I guess.

Is "Herve saves Lily Allen from the Fear" remix of The Fear by Lily Allen dubstep? If so, I like it!

Some names I've picked up on:

Martyn (he's just got an album out worth checking), plus the Flying Lotus remix of Martyn - Natural Selection is great stuff
Spatial (free creative commons downloads here http://infrasonics.net/dubs/infra001)
    Appleblim & Peveralist
    Geiom

    Worth a go.

As mentioned, keep a check on the Electronic Explorations link I've posted for regular dubstep podcasts. The guy who runs it gets special mixes commissioned for it by loads of the dubstep scene.

What are people listening to at the moment then?

Shock One's 'Adachigahara's Theme' is one of the bigger tunes out there at the moment, and rightly so - it's fucking amazing. I'd go as far as to call it possibly the best dubstep song I've ever heard, and Shock One aren't even a predominantly dubstep outfit, they're more dnb.

Babylon System's 'Get On Up' is another new one I can't get enough of at the moment.

Trip hop was in the 90s.

    That's about it.

Yeah, I was! Although like I say, specifically in the Burial style. Stripped back and atmospheric.

(bit late coming back to this thread)

Dub Control, Ed Solo+Skool of Thought, Phuturistix, Joker and others currently getting regular spins (hard drive spins that is) in the foreverafternothing household (well, my room and whoever's house I'm at) at the moment.

edit; I suppose Sukh Knight, D1, Breakage, Antiserum, Crissy Criss, Boxcutter and Datsik are as well.
