    On a train to Scotland today. Just left Kings Cross at expect to arrive at Edinburgh by 14.45. Just discovered there's free wifi so I can spend the whole journey on EG and iPlayer. Sweet...!

    And of course I'll be updating you all regularly with our progress throughout the day.

    I'm jealous that you're going to Edinburgh - it's my favourite city.
    If you get the chance, pop in to the Concord fish bar on Home St (just up from Tollcross) and sample their chippy (brown) sauce. It's the best thing ever. My bro brought me a bottle back last week.

    Free Wifi on UK trains? I didn't know they did this.

    You have to pay for it on the trains over here :-(

    The National Express ones have it. Not sure about other services.

    Its ok but it can be really slow in certain areas.

    I think your find the iPlayer will be very hard to watch (unless you have downloaded the programmes before hand).

    Never lived in Glasgow so can't really comment, but I loved it in Edinburgh as a student.

    How long do you think it is before MrED209 realizes that he's connected to the internet via 3G and not WiFi and has clocked up a stonking phone bill?

    I knew WiFi was coming to the trains but they never told anyone when they did it.

    Errrrr NO.

    Heading up the west coast to Edinburgh, with Newcastle behind us and Dublin just visible out the window to the right over the Irish sea.

    Nah it's definitely WiFi ;) I don't have 3G...

    It's National Express, and the free WiFi is a new thing I think. Already the ginger haired almost-skinhead multiple-piercing Scots hardman sitting opposite me has had an eppy fit at the ticket collectors because he only had a print out of his ticket confirmation, not any actual tickets. He claimed the call centre said that would be fine. The ticket collector disagreed. He got away with it eventually, after playing the "Grandmother's Funeral" wild card...

    Then I got my laptop out and moments later he angrily collected all his stuff and fucked off to another carriage. Ha ha. Must have been the fisting porn I loaded up.

    I'm up in Edinburgh at the moment (working, but it's a nice lazy relaxing day today as half the staff here at on hols now). Will you be anywhere near greenside row?

    One of my wife's friends has acquired for free a couple of free first class tickets for "The East Coast Line", which she has offered to us.

    So, from Glasgow (or Edinburgh obviously), where should we go to for a dirty evening away?

    I got the train to Edinburgh and back 2 weeks ago to do a bit of mountain biking in Glentress (which was amazing) Are you going the inland route or do you go via Berwick on Tweed? It's beautiful that coastal route. One side the highlands the other the sea. Prefer it to the plane, less hassle and more relaxing.

    Got one way tickets for Edinburgh - London in June, £24.50! Bargain

    Staying in Leith tonight and tomorrow, then off to Glasgow Saturday morning to have lunch with mum and brother, getting pissed in Glasgow that night with old friends, then back to Edinburgh on Sunday, London on Monday...

    I've got my DS but not in the mood right now. A small child and it's mother have taken the place of Angry Ginger Scotsman. She's feeding it croissants which are mostly ending up on it's face rather than it's gob, and it's dropping it's toy cars on the floor. The vaguely attractive brunette that's sitting next to me is asleep. Apparently.
