Can't believe there's not a thread for this but I guess I could be the only fan.

Anyone watching this? As far as it goes, it's a bloody funny slow-burner of a comedy series. David Renwick's always been a bit of a fave but some of the stuff in this series has been fucking brilliant.

I never thought I'd see dog on girl pron on the Beeb at 45 mins after the watershed.

I have to say I was pretty confused when I walked into the living room and saw my parents watching a dog going at it with a lady on the tele. I stayed to watch the rest of it though and it was surprisingly good.

I think the first series was better (if only for the "will they meet each other/won't they" aspect which, brilliantly, was never realised), but it's still top-notch comedy.

It's not often you see a suicide turned into a comedy thread that results in dog pron, that's for sure.

I thought the way they handled the lack of the bloke from the 1st series was well done. Great piece of pathos for a comedy show.

This week's episode opener just had me rubbing my eyes and almost had me reaching for the telly remote. I couldn't figure out why she was appearing as a negative and then...blammo, cheap throwaway gag but handled beautifully nonetheless.

Compare and contrast Love Soup with My Family.

Great episode on saturday. Particularly liked the veiled dig at Little Britain!

Sorry, I should have started a thread on this myself, bloody love this series!

I'm a bit taken aback that they killed Gil off in the background though, especially after the entire first series was the "will they ever meet" setup. Bit callous I thought, although I suppose they had to reference it at some point.

Would have been cool if the second half of the series was about Gil, leading up to the time he died - perhaps they could have still been just missing each other the whole time...

Was a bit sidelined, I guess they didn't see the point in carrying on with that storyline with another actor in place.

Nicely alluded to this week though, I thought.

Missed Sheridan Smith's large mammaries this week, definitely but Montserrat Lombard's pigtails more than made up for 'em.

    Great series - lovely writing.

We do all know that Tamsin is 'Debbie from the Archers', don't we?

(Also saw her 'live' doing Much Ado last year).

I guess there's no way to see the episodes that I have missed?
    Iplayer only does 7 days.

Shame since I paid for it.

Hopefully there'll be DVD boxsets eventually as I missed quite a few of the early series 1 episodes.

Great comedy though. Doesn't go out of its way to throw belly laughs in your face, but is quietly impressive nonetheless.

I have a strange morbid attraction to Tamsin Grieg as well, can't quite figure out why but would definitely stork Montserrat Lombard in preference.

Did anyone else notice the dark haired girl romping around in the lesbian love scene this week was that that Romanian girl off "How do you solve a problem like Maria?"

Please someone tell me it wasn't just me.

Wait - there are people that don't listen to the Archers??

Can someone tell me what happened to Love Soup? I was watching one series where it was all about a man and a woman who lived parallel lives and never met, and the next thing I know they've changed it completely and it's all just about the Archers/Black Books/Green Wing woman. WTF??

    What happened?

    say no to Eurogamer sigs

Original bloke died of a heart attack.

Actually, that's how this series more or less ended - on a trademark bit of Renwick style pathos, with Alice pretty much not "finding the one" and a bit of a creepy throwback to the original series.

Shame that's it. No more. Ever.

I did like this show. I thought the whole wheelchair woman bit was a bit creepy and unnecessary, though. Something about her eyes really freaked me out.

    SHE creeped you out?!

    Her hubby didn't? :)

The hubby was more than a bit weird, and obviously a perv. But the woman was like a scary statue, and her eyes... like she was obviously crying out for help, but could never do anything about it.

As I said, this is what Renwick does best. The bit where she phoned the guy up and he's standing with his head in a noose was a bit freaky too :)

Will miss letching at Montserrat Lombard every saturday night now.
