Is the 1600 points (13-14) price a zombie game tax, or an attempt to soften people for an XOne d/l game pricing norm?
There is uncomfirmed talk about some of the future amendments to State of Decay being 'free' through the 1600 points price.... the most salient rumour at the moment being that a (sadly only) 2-player 'co-op' mode might be made available for it in the future.

Not that it doesn't look worth 13ish if it lives up to the ambition already and not that there are any confirmed reports of free updates as Minecraft does it, but perhaps we'll find out more at or after release tomorrow.

    edit: new page quote edit.

I meant to mention yesterday that Undead Labs and Major Nelson both have confirmed that the 5th June XBLA title is going to be State of Decay at a price of (deep breath) 1600 MSPs.
Interesting. They're going to start working on a PC version as well. Once it's on PC, then ... Xbox One?

Everybody knows the Xbox One won't have any games, though!

    ;) etc.

    But of course, of course.

I say this in the kindest possible way however, that zombie game looks really rough around the edges, like it is still going through the alpha and beta phase.
Yeah, Monkehhh posted about it in the dedicated State of Decay thread, thus:

    monkehhh wrote:
Sounds like the tearing was IGN's fault, though it does have other issues.

"Please note, IGN's graphics were dramatically better than what you saw in the abortive Twitch stream yesterday, because that's the difference a month makes. The Twitch channel hostess was using an older build. IGN also has been totally honest with you. The tearing was their equipment - framerate and the sliding was not.

Now I'll add my own honesty, although this is in a bunch of other threads (and why I'm sort of wondering why anyone thinks the forum's all rainbows and unicorn poop - we don't flinch from the dark side, here): The sliding is not going to get fixed. It's an engine issue, and you see it in multiple AAA games, let alone our XBLA game. I also do not believe the frame is going to get better. I'm positive the animations are final.
... [early reviews] acknowledge the issues, and say that if you like this kind of game, it just doesn't matter that much. In my own experience, that is true of any game. Give it a shot. The demo will be free."
(SoD was built on CryEngine 3)

New deals are up on Major Nelsons website (Sleeping Dogs this week, Worms next).

He doesnt mention though that the Walking Dead Episode 1 is free again at the moment..

Oh and Boulderdash XL and Hybrid are both 400msp.

Nice, I'll be grabbing the Year of the Snake DLC to finish off Sleeping Dogs.

I'll never get my Orc looking the same again.

Most of the packs are just costumes and vehicles. Nightmare in Northpoint and Year Of The Snake are the only story add ons AFAIK. The first was a nice idea but really brief (you can polish off pretty much everything in less than 90 minutes), the second seems alright from the half hour I played last night.

I'll never get my Orc looking the same again.

So many have ponied up for State of Decay?

It's getting some great gameplay reviews - not so hot on the graphics front but I don't care about that.

    Sesh.

Everybody should just calm down a little bit and have a nice cup of tea.

They're in a class of their own tbh, but Winterbottom is well worth checking out.

I'm not sure how much it is atm, but I got it on sale for 160MS points at one point

Not puzzle platformer per se but the metroidvania style Shadow Complex is an XBLA essential.

Ilomilo and From Dust both also broadly fall into the puzzle category and both are excellent.

    Fucking love XBLA.

I've played all of them except Winterbottom - it looks like it's made in paint though. I'll give the trial a try.

Then there's the cave obviously, but people doesn't seem to be that positive about it.

Still no new decent 3D platformer in it. For shame.

It's a genuine joy to play. The mechanics are so simple (only 3 or so buttons used), and the level design is fantastic. There are around 8 different characters, and each one allows a different way of playing. For example, we were really struggling on one level, so decided to switch to the mole and just created our own way through the levels by digging through walls.

It also has decent replay value as you can go back to levels and try collect everything. It feels completely different going back and doing everything as quick as you can rather than just blundering your way through it. It's almost like Trials in that regard...

We generally play quite late when we do play (11pm BST and later).

On XBLA? The Maw is pretty good, albeit a bit short and lightweight.

The Maw is not a platformer.

I want a new Banjo Kazooie.

Also, as Muttler said, Guardians of ME is 600MSP. I love it, some hate it due to it being janky. On we go.

The Maw is every bit a 3D platformer as the BK games! Why do you think it isn't?

It's been a long time since I played the Maw, so I could be wrong, but I don't remember it being anything like, let alone as good, as BK et al.

I really enjoyed The Maw. I thought it was short but rather fun.
