This week's deals are a joke. 10% discount on some EA Sports titles (GoD), yet the offer titles rub in the fact that the US gets 17%.

Given the game backlogs most of us have, it's probably a good thing there's nothing tempting at the moment.

My New Year's resolution is to finish at least one game each month - January is Walking Dead which should be reasonably straightforward!

Yeah, I got points still available after buying TWD, so thinking of using them here too.

What an amazing deal of the week! A mere 45 for a 3/4 month old sports game. Christ MS, you are really tempting me with that genorous offer.

The other day I bought Hitman and KOFXIII from the PS Store for 17 and 6 respectively. Try harder with your GoD offers MS, even Sony are kicking your arse for retail game offers now.

Saying that though. In the meantime I bought Nights, a game I've wanted to play for years for a more than reasonable 800 points. Has it aged well? I guess I'll find out!

The XBLA sale has actually kicked the arse of the Steam sale this year. Fez & Jet Set Radio for 400 points each, The Walking Dead for a total of 800.

    Feckin' 'ell.

Retro City Rampage is up! 800 points.

    Spong'll hate it though, as it's a completely shitty litte 43mb d/l...

800? I thought it was supposed to be 1200. Looking forward to giving the trial of that a whirl tonight, if I can drag myself away from The Walking Dead for half an hour.

Picked up RCR, 800 is more impulse-y territory for me. Played a bit on the PC, there's a lot jammed in to those 40ish megabytes.

The one day sale on XBLA for Mark of the Ninja was also cheaper than the Steam price. Although the beauty of Steam sales is that almost every game gets 33-50% off...

Must resist RCR. I want it on the Vita but I've a load of MS points sitting there begging to be spent. Gah.

Retro City Rampage is a lot of fun. Just spent ages in the arcade. Glad it was 800, don't think I would have bitten at 1200.

The trouble with RCR launching now is that I've just bought a shitload of XBLA games in the sale and I got a giant pile of disc-based games for Christmas too, so I don't need it now. Even if I like the trial, I suspect I'm likely to wait for it to hit Deal of the Week.

It's 43.21 megabytes, so according to Spong's Rule of Mong, it's shit.

I don't like RCR at all, but then I don't think it was aimed at me as I didn't really play games until the PS1 (except point and click).

Dull game but with a lot of references to gaming history. If you played a lot of 8 bit games I can imagine it being fun in a similar way that films like Hot Shots or Scary Movie are fun

RCR seems quite amusing, although I have to admit I had some trouble keeping up with what was happening at times given the tiny sprites and the speed of the action. I'm getting on a bit, you know. :)

I'll most likely pick that up at some point, but for now I'm too swamped.

I imagine it's utterly amazing if you have nostalgia for 8 bit games, but I don't unfortunately. The game obviously isn't aimed at me so don't let me put anyone off if you like the look of it!

Poor Spong... it's gonna take a while to live that one down.

Just seen the DOTW and its MS and EA vision of digital distribution when there is no more discs. Other games can stamp their chubby feet as much as they and say "when discs are dead the gamers will be cheap herp derp!!11"

No, companies will try to sell titles for 55 or "discounted to 45" on closed systems and the bell ends will lap it up like the stockholm syndrome retards they are

Shame MS had a really good xmas sale then they have to go and shit themself and throw it around

@Mr-Brett I don't see why. I never said anything about a game being shit based solely on its filesize. I merely said that, logically, more is more. Braid is 144MB, but people seem to think I'm mental or fucked in the head somehow for imagining that a 300MB Braid (or a limit-reaching 2GB Braid) would be bigger/better. The only mongs are the people who misunderstood that.

    Bigger - maybe.
Better - There's literally no reason to think so.

Anyway I think the discussion has reached its apex, beyond this point it's all down hill. I'm sorry if you feel that people are attacking you, it's just an unusual view and you know how EG is :)

In comparison to some views on this forum, you're a bastion of sanity Spong.

Your justification is entirely valid but I still think you should copyright "Spong's rule of mong" just for the fantastic ring it has to it, even if it means reworking it so the rule of mong is, as you say "The only mongs are the people who misunderstood that."

    That sounds good!

I started episode 2 last night, and my jaw nearly hit the floor! Nearly straight off having to make a choice to chop a dudes leg off! Grim! Fantastic game.

Sorry for the slight de-rail, but as I know hardly anybody looks at the Indie games section of the dash or the corresponding thread here, just thought I'd point you guys towards the three games I mentioned in this post just before xmas. They're all worth considering if you've got points left over from the XBLA sale (and if you've got a similar taste in games to me, I guess!)
