The free to play game has horrible matchmaking. I've played 1 game as the rest of the time was spent in a lobby or being kicked out of one repeatedly.

Also, I've given up on the maw and aqua after getting free codes for them. Both capable but painfully average. Can't think of a reason why I'd ever choose to play them over something else.

    I quite enjoyed The Maw.

quite easy and lightweight, but fun and my 5 year old loves it.

I think "quite enjoyed" is the best way to describe it. It's alright, but there are much better games out there. Apart from Splosion Man 1 I find Twisted Pixel to be an overrated developer, although their games are full of charm

I'm generally not a fan of first-person shooters, and I loved it. Very atmospheric and absorbing. The boxed version must be pretty cheap nowadays though, surely?
Been thinking about getting Metro myself. It's only 5.50(ish) with the discount, which is cheaper than anywhere online - certainly anywhere you can get a 'new' copy and about the same as the cheapest ebay 2nd hand copies. This way at least a little money goes to the publisher...

My only concern is that it'll just add to the pile of games I haven't got round to starting yet.

    Why look, it's a blog:

If Metro is 5.50 I'm going to buy it and support the developer. This is more like the price games should be on GOD when they've been out a while.

It's relatively short, and well worth getting. :)

So has anyone else had a go on Happy Wars? I've been playing it all weekend and despite some server issues (which seem to be getting better) I've found it really enjoyable.

There's only 3 classes and a handful of maps, but I'm loving that weird mix of the complete clusterfuck battles and team tactics it's even managed to break my Borderlands addiction.

I quite like Happy Wars. Only had a go last weekend with MrTomFTW but it was suprisingly good fun. I do keep meaning to go back to it at some point. For free, well with Gold, everyone should give it a try.

Yes, RE4 is the full version. Bought the Japanese disc version for ps3 which comes with both C:V & 4 but personally, I wouldn't spend any money on 4 separately as it really is a very poor HD conversion...

Your right, just had a quick look at the EG review. Doesn't sound too good either. Maybe I'll just leave my good memories on the Gamecube in the past.

Alan Wake is easily worth 600 points. Enjoyed that muchly when it was on sale a few weeks back!

Edit: xbldb is showing Bioshock and Bioshock 2 at 800 points each, too. Uber-bargains for the three people who don't already have them.

Edit 2: And Bioshock DLC is cheap too. Those same three people will want the brilliant Minerva's Den for 400 points, yes?

    Edit 3:
Scratch and Match consolation prizes (nicked from cheapassgamer):

    - Gripshift 400 MSP (1/2 off)
    - Geon 400 MSP (1/2 off)
    - Ikaruga 400 MSP (1/2 off)

Chain Reaction is Lara Croft & the Guardian of Light:

    - Lara Doll avatar prop 120 MSP (1/2 off)
    - A Hazardous Reunion 200 MSP (1/2 off)
    - Raziel & Kain Character Pack 160 MSP (240 MSP off)
    - All the Trappings 120 MSP (280 MSP off)

Good deal for BioShock 1 if true.

BioShock 2 on 360 is 6.53 new on disc from popular online retailer named after South American rainforest.

Think I'll get RE4, never played it, but completed and enjoyed RE5. Can't really go wrong for 7.49

I'd like to recommend the Wii version if you have a Wii. I can almost guarantee you will forget the Gamecube version ever existed ;)

The Wii version is excellent. I couldn't play RE5 due to the shit (pad) controls. No going back!

    Shocktober list apparently also includes:

    Ghostbusters - 11.99 or 1440 MSP
Ghostbusters: Sanctum of Slime - 400 MSP
Adventures of Shuggy - 400 MSP
Bloody Good Time - 400 MSP

I thought Bloody Good Time was always 400 points though? Bit crafty if I'm right.

The three people that didn't buy Bioshock bought it, played it for an hour and then deleted it. Should have been great but wasn't

    Fiat Lux

@Lotos8ter - Indeed. It was a dumbed down The Ship. I still enjoyed it but the lack of penalty for not playing it properly ruined the online play. If you like the concept then I can't recommend The Ship enough (assuming you have a PC and people still play it)...

@PenguinJim - you'll be happy to know I took the plunge and bought Metro 2033. You may be even happier, or more amused at least, to learn that this download carried a higher the expected price: Another RRoD. :'(

Think that's my fifth dead 360 (if you count the repairs). Been almost 3 years since my last and not sure about the warranty on this one. I can't afford a replacement machine at the moment, so I may be off gaming for a while.

Back on topic. Ikaruga: 400msp on the 'Scratch & Match' consolation? That's a fucking bargain! I've already got it, but for any who don't - buy it now!!!

    Why look, it's a blog:

I would love it blerk :)

I was going to buy it in the bundle but my laptop was broke at the time. Getting a new pc this week so would love to be able to play it (only ever played the original HL mod)

Done! Are you already on my Steam friends list, I can't remember. Drop me a PM and we'll sort it.
  • Deleted user 24 October 2012 10:47:35
Alan wake was well worth the 1200 I paid so 600 is a no brainer for anyone who no played already. Might re buy Bioshock for that price

Looks like we're getting Guilty Gear XX: Accent Core Plus today. The game is there but you can't download it. For some reason you don't pronounce the X as an X but as Zex. So the longer title is Guilty Gear Zex Zex: Accent Core Plus. Turbo Tournament Edition' 2.

It was a very pretty but unbelievably hard 2D fighter on PS2 so I wonder how good it looks in HD? It's by the same guys behind Blazblue.

If you can read this, you don't need glasses.

    :(

RROD warranty is three years - whack your serial into xbox.com. If you're out of warranty, you can probably squeeze a couple more weeks out of it with a towel. ;)

Maybe this question is more suited here:

All of you with the updated dashboard, have you seen any mention of the Shocktober sale on it? Like the THQ sale before it, I cannot find it anywhere, whereas on my non-updated second console it was right there on the main tab...

If you are only a little bit out of warranty, it is always, always worth ringing up Microsoft telephone support and trying your luck with them... sometimes the operatives are very helpful, and if you get no joy from the front line, asking to speak to their supervisor is also worth the trouble. You don't need to be angry, just point out what a dedicated Xbox fan and gamer you are, and that it is only X weeks/months outside of their generous 3 year warranty and it wouldn't hurt them to retain you as a fan.

At the worst you'll probably get a free month of XBL, which of course will not be any use to you at all!

Hallo gang. Not been on in ages.

I haven't been paying attention to XBLA since the summer. Have I missed any gems?
